How much ink is in a cartridge?

I know Genuine Epson T1285 amounts for Black is 5.9ml Colours are 3.5ml In my experience the higher the number at the end of the cartridge ie T128 (5) indicates the higher the amount of ink ... I always check with the manufacturer Hope this helps M.S

Epson inks still good quality but what a price !! Compatibles don't seem to work unfortunately. Mind you the quality of Epsom products is very high.

As I only print in black, can I install only a black cartridge (i.e. leave the red, blue and yellow slots empty)?

The printers need all colours in and refuse to print otherwise. That's the way with my Epsom printers anyway and I think will be the general rule. They need you to buy the inks. Champagne is cheaper by a long chalk. Inks are the biggest rip off going !
