First, Tamiya models have some of the cleanest pieces that fit extremely well with almost no trimming, and come of the sprues clean. The instructions for all their products are very good. I started building them when I was 12 years old or so, and as a beginner then, they were a bit more pricey than say Monogram or Revel, but well worth it.HOWEVER....this tank for a beginner has some issues. First, it is 1/48 scale, so all the parts are smaller. I'd highly recommend the same tank from Tamiya in 1/35. Unless for some reason this is going on a diorama or with a set of other things that are 1/48. Second, and this is the big beginner issue....the 1/35 scale Tamiya tanks usually have a rubberized, flexible track, which goes around the track wheels and is sealed with a simple heated flathead screwdriver. This 1/48 tank has hard plastic parts for the tracks, and they need to be glued together as separate track pieces. For a beginner, and given the scale is low (1/48), that could be frustrating. Having the tracks look right is so fundamental to a good tank for display, so I'd suggest see if you can find their 1/35 scale version. Also, that means given the tracks are "glued on" that it is fragile to handle once done. Find their 1/35....it is awesome and easy to work with. They also used to make a 1/25 with AWESOME interior detail (basically, everything is IN the TANK....but I don't know if that is available anymore and definitely not for beginners unless you just go with leaving out the inside and go with the outside, which would be a bit of a waste. **Q: are the tracks metals?** A: No the tracks are made of plastic pre-assembled pieces in which you connect around the track wheels. **Q: What color is the plastic right out of the box, and will I need CA glue?** A: it is a tan/yellow color out of the box and you will need glue. **Q: How big is it** A: Not easy to find, but this model is 1/48 scale.
