I, like others, am simultaneously pulled between the wanting to hug Imani & yell at her for what we just want through.The characters are dynamic and multidimensional. You think you know who you’ll love but others have a way of sneaking up on you (Eli - I’m looking at you). I loved that we have a full hell raising vengeful FMC that will do anything for her man. Elara truly came into her own and it was a joy to see. Furthermore, the love and humour between the characters was *chef’s kiss*, and the spice, top notch - I didn’t know gangplanks could be so erotic (IYKYK).The world building is so rich and deep and well thought through that everything has a meaning whether you realise it at the time or not. The lore is so well connected and intertwined that it adds a whole other dimension to the storytelling.Speaking of storytelling, the plot twists!!! Talk about a rollercoaster of a journey. I knew it was too good to be true but I was not expecting that ending!This book was a masterpiece of creativity - I laughed, cried, nearly threw my kindle thanks to the ending and sat in pure shock at times.
