If you're into landscape photography, particularly panoramas, it's best to have the camera sitting exactly horizontal to ensure that the separate images line up correctly. This can be done by adjusting the legs, but it's a fiddly business. This nifty little device fits between the tripod and tripod head and makes it easy to achieve the required result. It has a circular bubble level and two tube levels to show when all is correct. It adds a little height, but this can be an advantage in some situations. It screws onto the tripod using a standard thread, and the tripod head is screwed onto the top. You can now rotate the camera in the horizontal plane with confidence, knowing that your images will all be aligned. It doesn't add much weight, so those long treks between locations aren't going to be more tiring for you. The thumbscrews can be locked in place once everything is level, though I've never found this to be necessary, and it's easily unscrewed from the tripod for transport. All in all, it's a very useful accessory.

I got this for mounting a Benro Polaris Astro tracking mount, which needs to be very level in order to track the stars accurately over a long period of time. This levelling base allows for very precise tuning. So it's slower to set up than a bowl-based levelling head, but more accurate. With astrophotography, putting the time into a proper setup is what makes the difference between a spectacular shot and a whole night wasted, and this base certainly helps. Once set up, the base is solid and sturdy, even with the weight of the tracking mount, camera and lens on it. Use it with a good tripod, take your time, and it will serve you well.

This is not intended as a quick and 'pan & tilt' or ball socket replacement. To me its function is to provide precise and accurate levelling of cameras or small telescope / binocular units. I use it for a small telescope unit, which requires accurate levelling. Levelling is achieved with three adjuster nuts, and all actions are smooth, the unit seams well made. Recommended.

The device mounted between the camera (or in my case small smart telescope) and the tripod facilitates levelling with precision, without the trial-and-error required when fiddling with extending tripod legs. Not the cheapest of accessories, but it will last for ever. Recommended for the requirement - and a very desirable addition to any Seestar S50 set-up, particularly if used for solar viewing.

I bought this for my new Seestar S50 smart telescope, as trying to level the scope by adjusting the legs of the tripod is difficult; this makes it so much easier. Not much more to say, it seems well made, the adjuster wheels move smoothly. For my application with a heavy(ish) 3kg telescope, this mechanism is better than a ball head.

Acquistata per rendere più facile e veloce la messa in bolla del Seestar S50. Ho sostituito la testa a sfera originale del treppiede che avevo acquistato con questa base di livellamento, e ora l’aggiustamento orizzontale del Seestar, tramite l’app dedicata, richiede pochi secondi. Dopo aver fatto una messa in bolla approssimativa del treppiede, ed averci avvitato sopra il Seestar, basta regolare le 3 rotelline fino a quando i due cerchi nell’app Seestar coincidono. Questo dispositivo a mio parere può far risparmiare parecchio tempo.
