Flawed design?
I can see where other reviews are bashing it but I managed to get mine useable in that I put up a heavy floating shelf that required eight quite deep and perfectly perpendicular 12mm holes (4 in wall and 4 in shelf). It worked OK, but I gave the guide a bit of a workout to loosen up the spring and spread the grease around it. I will try some super low friction grease on it the next time I use it.I think its the design with a combination of using fibreglass for a hexagonal shaft to prevent the drill turning on that axis. An oval shaft would achieve the same result with much less friction and metal would be even better.

Waste of money
I am useless at DIY so I bought this to enable me to drill straight and level into walls. This product doesn't work that well. The concept is a good one but the implementation lets it down. For it to work properly, the drill needs to be able to glide smoothly down rail. Unfortunately it doesn't, therefor drilling straight and level becomes impossible.

Does not work -Too much friction in the hexagonal shaft
This item requires two polished METAL circular shafts rather than one FIBERGLASS hexagonal shaft. The hex shaft is required as there is only one shaft, the hex is intended to stop the tool rotating. However it creates far too much friction and hence the tool is unusable. The tool rotates in use and causes a clamping effect one of the flat faces of the hex and acts like a brake, the more you push the more braking is produced. It will never work even if lubricated with low friction grease. Not fit for purpose, poor design, avoid.

Too sloppy to be useful
I'm not sure anybody tried this before selling it. The mechanism is at once too sloppy and too tight to be useful. The combination of the 'stiction' with the slop means that you have to push too hard to get it to move and then it moves without any opportunity for fine control - I'd rather keep both hands on the drill than trust to this.Amazon were fantastic as ever in dealing with the return and giving me a refund.

wasn't good.
It's really not fit for purpose, since you can't push it down steadily. you can push it down in really big increments. There is no fine control so you can't drill the wholes properly. it's easier just doing it freehand.
