A great aluminum frame at a great price
My application is unusual, but it highlights the incredible utility of aluminum extrusion components. They're not just for 3d printing. In my case, I needed a way to mount a pair to drying racks in my shower. I didn't want to drill directly into my glass tile, nor to apply direct pressure from drying clothes to the tile. I already have installed vertical grab bars, so the logical approach seemed to be to mount the racks to the grab bars. The aluminum extrusion linear rails provided the perfect framework, and the black anodized surface looks great. As someone else put it, these rails are a modern-day adult erector set for fashioning anything one needs. By choosing a stock length, I cut the cost in half and didn't have to wait for it to arrive from China. Since aluminum is inherently waterproof, it's perfect for use in a shower. Indeed, the window behind them has an aluminum frame. My one caution is that while aluminum is inherently corrosion-resistant, many of the components designed for use with extrusion rails are not and so one needs to be careful to select components that won't rust.

Versatile product
These are are some awesome products. There’s an unlimited amount of projects that can be made with them. I made some speaker stands for the rear speakers on my surround sound. I love these.

Not what I was expecting
If this was described as being powder coated, or painted, I would have known what to expect. The process of anodizing aluminum, which this is described as, involves bathing the part in various chemicals. As can be seen in this pic, the finish was sprayed on, which clearly indicates powder coating, or paint. Also, as can be seen in this pic, the finish was very poorly sprayed on, and did not cover all surfaces. My 8 year old can spray paint better than this. I am extremely dissatisfied with how this looks, and I will be returning it, buying raw, or unfinished 2020, paint it myself, and have a much nicer looking finish.
