I’ve owned a thermapen for like twenty years. They work great and a quick temperature read allows that grilled and cooked meat is safe to eat and not over cooked. I liked these so much that I’ve bought thermapens for my kids, friends, and relatives. This most recent order is for my nephew.

Durable and well made, with good solid construction and no obviously weak elements. The product performs exactly as described. Fast, highly accurate, temperature readings for cooked meats (in particular) and very easy to use.

Very reactive and quick thermometer. Super well built. Only mild frustration is that I wish I could put the LED screen on an 'always on' mode when using.

First of all, this is very easy to use and clearly well made. It comes with a calibration certificate, which is reassuring, although I haven't independently verified its accuracy. The entire device is IP67 rated, making it easy to clean without having to worry about splashes damaging the unit. The advertised one-second reading is a little misleading. If there's a significant temperature difference between the ambient temperature and whatever you're measuring, the probe does need a little longer for the reading to settle. This isn't a major issue, but it's worth being aware of. It really helps with cooking good food properly and has become an essential piece of equipment in my kitchen. The price is a little difficult to justify, but I expect it to have a reasonably long life, which may make it worthwhile in the long run.

This is great! Extremely quick to report the temp which is what I wanted. I had an inexpensive one before and it was too slow. To be sure, it is expensive but if you read around online, this is the device that is most often recommended, which is why I bought it, and I don't regret the decision - I even bought one for a friend who tried mine and really liked it!

The speed of response and accuracy of this thermometer is excellent. The body is robust and smooth so it’s easy to wipe clean. It’s also waterproof, including the battery compartment, where all the control buttons are protected. It’s rare that you will want to alter the settings anyway, so this isn’t a problem and it avoids water ingress through leaky switch housings. The thermometer can measure temperature in either Celsius (centigrade) or Fahrenheit and it is switched on by opening the probe. This automatically switches on the lcd display and illumination. There is a sensor to determine the ambient light level and this saves on battery usage. If needed, you can switch on the display illumination by covering the sensor with your thumb. The display is self-orienting so makes readings easy to make regardless of the angle of the thermometer. The probe is thin and sharp and easily penetrates meat. Take care to open the probe gently from a position close to the pivot as the probe is a thin stainless steel tube not a solid steel rod - so don’t use it to prise lids from tins! The accompanying instruction booklet is the most comprehensive example that I have seen. It’s excellent. The thermometer may be on the pricey side, but compared to the slooow response of other thermometers I have used, I wouldn’t be without this one.

Perfect all rounder. And just used it to check for set on homemade jam. I also plan to use it for checking homemade bread. So to me its worth its price tag as it will be well used. It would also be a fabulous present.

Works perfectly and feels robust

The most efficient food thermometer I’ve ever used. Almost instant readout. Switches on and off automatically when you swing the probe out. Couldn’t be easier. It’s not cheap, but when I add up the amount I’ve spent on other thermometers over the years, I wish I’d bought this a long time ago. Highly recommended.

I bought it because it was recommended in Recipe Tin Eats. I’d previously had a cheaper one which was hopeless. The Thermapen is excellent. Expensive so worth looking out for Black Friday sales.
