How to properly detach the top spout to clean it?

You unscrew the lid and pull the straw out and open the spout and clean it or put it in the dishwasher. I do not wash the cup in the dishwasher.

what is base diameter in inches?

I am unsure but it fits in a car cup holder perfect.

This tumbler is double walled so I do not put this in the dishwasher. I wash the tumbler by hand but I do put the lid and straw in the dishwasher. For me, I love this so much that washing it by hand is worth it.

How durable is the handle?

Yes. The handle is just the right thickness for durability. The material it is made out of is not only durable but incredibly pliable for comfort. (It’s also easy to clean.) I carry my hydro frequently by the handle and have never experienced a problem. It is definitely well secured to the sides of the hydro. An added bonus is the handle can be adjusted to a collapsed position or may remain in an upright position. (Meaning it is not stiff, rigid and fixed in an upright position). Hope this helps.
