Fruit flies? Such as those teenie tiny gnat things? Not sure any holes are small enough to keep those out. But this mesh is pretty tight. Will certainly keep birds and critters out And most insects

Yes, our garden netting itself is uv resistant and much thicker than regular nettings you can find . It will last for 3-5 years, you can use it repeatedly.

Will this keep caterpillars out of my potted basil and mint ?

It should if its tight around the base if the pots or plants. It’s very small screen. I had a couple of bees and lady bug that got trapped and couldn’t get through it.
