The 12" by 12" agaricus (white button or crimini/baby bella) kit weighs about 13/14 lbs. ~ This beginners kit comes with comprehensive instructions (including links to online instructions which include photos and videos to aid you on your growing journey), colonized growing medium block and the casing layer you mix and apply to the block. The box the kit is shipped in converts into its growing chamber. The mycelium within the kit is alive and growing. As such the kit needs to be treated like any living plant. The box needs to be opened upon arrival as it will need to breathe and you are instructed to begin the process within a week of its arrival. You start the process by following the instructions on mixing and applying the casing material provided. The mushrooms begin to emerge from 2-4 weeks after applying the casing as per instructions. Depending on the care given, during the following 3 to 8 weeks after the first flush of mushrooms have matured, mushrooms will be emerging. Typically with harvests every 5-10 days. Fungus are different. We create a food source for the mushroom fungus on the compost that we make. It is a complicated scientific process. Once that food source is depleted the kit will no longer produce. Some put it on their home compost pile and see some mushrooms from it when the weather is just right, but they are typically pretty rough looking at that point. We remove competing fungus and force fruit indoors year round. We kick off new crops weekly in order to keep our customers supplied with mushrooms. Your kit would come directly from our beds that are fully colonized. TY **Q: What Are The Health Benefits?** A: Mushrooms also naturally lower cholesterol levels and blood pressure **Q: Seller - If the mushrooms fail, will you still honor refund or replacement outside the 30 days? It appears that more than 30 days needed for crop.** A: I have never seen this question before. I look here at least once a week and it appears this question just showed up as a customer wrote a reply to it today ??? So odd... anyway... I will do my best to answer your question so that it may help others. When you receive the kit there are instructions in the box with it. I have our email address highlighted and stress on the very first page that we are here if there are any questions or concerns along the way. If you read and follow the instructions the kit will grow. The substrate is fully colonized before it leaves our farm. We literally pulled the substrate from our growing trays just before casing that crop (we case a new crop every week). You get the kit at the point that it needs to be cased. It takes 3 weeks to see the first flush of mushrooms coming on once you case the kit. In our policy we state that the buyer should contact us to ask for help if at any time they have a question or concern. If there is anything that we did to the kit to make it not perform this would be visible by 2 1/2 to 3 weeks into the process. We will work with home growers to aid them to get the most out of their kit. Many times we just need to see a picture to be able to tell you what is going on or the home grower needs to tweak temperature and/or humidity. Keep the log (there is a log page in the included instructions) so that when we ask when a particular action was done you can look at your log to let us know. Bob and I are here to answer any questions and offer assistance along the way. I would definitely purchase from them again❤️ ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Highly productive mushroom kit *by S***L on January 11, 2021* The kit needs a bit of patience and time to develop the mushrooms, but once they are going they are very active. I got about 3 flushes out of the kit around 3lbs total or so. The mushrooms are not exactly like the Portabellas you get in the supermarket, the texture is a bit different. But close enough. The flavor is very good. You will need to keep a temperature between 63-68 approximately. This is what I learned when I asked them. Their customer services was excellent, Wendy got back to me immediately with that advice, detailed explanations and a lot more good suggestions which helped me to give the kit the best conditions. The instructions they put into the kit are very detailed, the overview sheet was extremely helpful. The kit comes with everything except a "humidity tent" but one can use anything really. I luckily had a humidity tent from a shitake log before which fit over that kit here like a glove. It had some holes and was made from clear plastic. Any larger plastic bag will work.
