Q: If you only want to use it for one painting, what is the maximum size that the easel will allow?

5 foot by 4 foot is the biggest we do as that’s the biggest we can buy locally. But I’d say it will hold bigger.

Q: does it do 90 degree vertical??

Yes it will go all the way to 77inches. You have to remove the center ledge and use the TOP smaller canvas holder ledge and very bottom canvas holder ledge only. That's how you accommodate that large.

Q: Can the easel accommodate to canvases a 36 inches each?

Yes. It can very comfortably do so. I have 36x72 mounted
