Since he enjoys working to earn his treats (he performs little tricks, such as 'stand', 'shake hands', 'high five' on request), I thought this would be a novel way for him to 'earn' treats. He doesn't care for balls, never played with them even as a kitten, so I thought he would simply ignore the yellow ball.Surprise: He loves ball more than the treats! He really enjoys batting it around. He likes it best when he sits on one side of the board, I on the other, and we kick the ball at each other. He also plays on his own sometimes.What I really like is that this toy can be taken apart. Each section can be taken out, which is handy for washing and cleaning.My cat is highly intelligent in some ways, but not so great at spatial thinking, so I reckoned this would be a way for him to improve his skills. Indeed, he struggled quite a bit to get the treats out, and often simply gave up. But he's getting quite good now and enjoys the challenges.I recommend placing the treats in 'easy' locations first, to give your cat success experiences, and gradually increase the difficulty level.It also helps to use fairly big treats at first so that your kitty can get his claws into the treat. It’s not difficult but I suggest owners start with large snacks to make it easier while training before moving to kibble.Like most cat things it’s a bit utilitarian and doesn’t look very stylish in the home and it takes a reasonably large space for a feeder.
