This is a lifesaver. I spent over 2 months building a bar and finished it in ebony stain with satin minwax poly. The satin was too shiny and looked awful. I was thinking of trashing the bar because the minwax finish looked horrible. I found the Epifanes product on Amazon and after choking at the price, I decided to try it. I went over the minwax with 0000 steel wool then applied the Epifanes. IT LOOKS AMAZING. Do not be tempted to over brush it. It goes on kind of thick and looks very glossy. Also, do not watch it dry. It looks splotchy and uneven while drying. Leave it for a few hours then go back and look. You will smile instantly. The finish is perfect. This is well worth the price for a finish like this gives. It does look like a hand-rubbed professional finish. I have never found any other poly that looks like this.

High quality interior finish
I have used exterior Epifanes marine finishes for brightwork on boats and they are great products. This was recommended by a furniture builder for use on cherry wood because it does not interfere with the natural darkening of cherry. It does not have UV blocking like the exterior products. It is very thick and needs a vigorous rub-on, rub-off technique. Beautiful sheen and clarity. Worth the effort.

Nice product
I always enjoy the look of Epifanes. Some complain that it is difficult to work with. I not sure I understand why? I have never had a problem with any of the Epifane products and I have used them quite a bit on many projects.

Quality product.
A little less glossy than satin, but covers nicely with great smoothing...no brush marks.

Works like magic
I used gloss Minwax stain/sealer on bare teak to get the color I wanted. Then sanded with 220 and used this stuff. Took the gloss down to a satin finish match woodwork surrounded the new cabinets.

Best varnish for waterproofing wood
If you require a protective varnish coating on oak which makes it impervious to water this is your varnish. Must be used in well ventilated room (preferably outside). I built a peg oak counter for our beverage bar and husband always poured water over coffee machine and didn't wipe it up. In time the oak blackened and started to warp. I re-sanded and re-stained and put about 8 coats on. No wonder they use this stuff for wooden boats in salt water. It's really is worth the price and time, plus it is cheaper here than through the manufacturer. Now my oak beverage bar is waterproof!!!!

This is a difficult product to work with
I thought, in the end, it was a terrible product. It left streaks that looked like thin plastic coating, all over my wood table, and try as I might with denatured alcohol--and finally steel wool #--it looks terrible and I will have to sand it down and use Wipe On Poly, which I wish I had used to begin with. I do not recommend this product.

Tolles Ergebnis
Einfach zu verarbeiten und es ergibt ein tolles Ergebnis. Mann muss allerdings mehrere Schichten auftragen und das kostet Zeit.

This gives an excellent finish, especially if used as a top coat over several coats of clear gloss. It brushes on better if thinned, either with the appropriate epifanes thinner or white spirit. Overall, I prefer the finish to other similar brands. Odd as it may sound, there is a distinctively different sound when rubbing a finger over an epifane finish to a different one, but I have no idea why that should be!
