Doggy paddling will not sink this toy! BEST water fetch toy of the many we tried
As we just recently received the SMALL NEON GREEN/BLUE version of this item, this product review is for the toys ability to float and be seen & fetched easily in the water, not it's durability. We have a 2 yr old 15 lb shih tzu who we are training to swim in our pool. She obviously wants to get in with us while we are swimming but gets nervous when we try to coax her in. The only way we could convince her to take the plunge was by throwing one of her favorite toys (limited to those which floated) in. The problem was as she doggy paddles she would force the toys underwater and then become very frustrated and fatigued quickly as they would often pop back up behind her, out of her field of vision. We tried KONG Air Dog Squeakair Birthday Balls Dog Toy, Medium, Colors Vary (3 Balls) (same size as regular tennis ball) and while they would float as soon as she reached the ball when she would try to bite it, it would just float away because her mouth is too small to get a grip on the ball without the resistance of the edge of the pool- or my hand. They would also stay full of water days later. We tried a slightly smaller kong KONG Squeezz Jels Pig Squeaking Dog Toy, Medium (Colors Vary) which I thought was small enough but had the same problem. We then tried the KONG Squeakair Tennis Ball with Rope Dog Toy, Medium, Yellow but while it worked better because she could capture the rope, she would still force the ball underwater and it took a while to pop back up. The only toy that only slightly worked was our blue Kong Wubba Assorted Colors Puppy but it didn't float very high and it got very dirty when wet (she decided to bury it when she was tired of swimming.) She would still accidentally force the wubba under while swimming. We also tried a rope/ball combo from the dollar store which eventually just sunk. Not so with this toy! Today is day 4 of pool training and she never kicked this chuckit bumper underwater, not even once! It floats very high on top of the water and it seems easy for her to see. She seems to enjoy fetching this toy and we even ended the training while she was still gladly fetching and full of energy, even after fetching many times. As I have read previous reviews we are keeping this as a "water only" toy and while we let her play with/chew it for a few moments after she retrieves it, it is not meant to serve as a chew toy or for non supervised play. So far it seems durable and HIGHLY functional as a floating retrieval tool. Will update review at the end of summer or if she manages to destroy it sooner

Our dog loves this toy!
As you can see from our pictures, this is a well-loved toy in our house. Our dog loves it in or out of the water. But we do try to save it for in the water. It floats nicely, and it's a great addition to his other pool. Toy quality is good. But if you have an aggressive chewer, they will probably tear this up.

Best Water Dog Toy.... Ever!
I have a lab that LOVES to be out on the water. When we go out on the lake, you cant ever get her back in the boat. That being said, we have gone through SO many dog toys over the years. She loves all of them, but they just don't hold up well. we have tried all kinds of frisbees and balls, and she destroys all of them. Not this thing! it looks like the foam would come apart easily, with how it feels, but it does not! Our lab can lay on the boat, sink her teeth into this thing like it is a bone, and it still looks brand new! I am 100% impresses and I will never buy anything else! Note: If you have a hunting dog, who does the "Bird kill, head whip" watch out for the string on this toy. It hurts when it hits you!

May not last long, but my shepherd loves it
I have a German shepherd who loves the pool. We live in a desert, so it's a great way to keep him active in the summer. Previously, I would use the orange Chuckit! balls for pool play because they are very durable and they're his absolute favorite, but he would have to bob a lot to grasp them which left him snorting up a lot of chlorine water. I found this product and felt it would be much easier for him to snag from the water. After two hours of play it held up pretty well. But I am worried it won't last long. He loved it, and had a blast fetching it over and over but he clamps down pretty hard when grabbing it. With his large teeth and strong bite, it made a lot of popping sounds as he would swim it back to the steps and readjust his hold on it. He punctured it quite a bit, but it hasn't fallen apart yet. Some of the stitching is coming undone on the blue ends and they are very weak. It may last longer if you can sew. When he gets it out of the water he does squeeze it as if trying to squeak it, but he's good at stopping when I tell him to. It probably wouldn't last an hour if I let him chew it and he's not even one to destroy toys. There's only been a few toys that have broken from him playing and it's almost always because his teeth puncture it and the stuffing starts falling out. Once this happens our golden retriever will take it and rip it to pieces. This one he is not allowed to have without supervision and only in the pool because it definitely won't last. Our golden actually hates the water, so we don't have to worry about her tearing it up. If you have a dog with a strong bite, or one that loves to chew, I'm not confident this will hold up very well. But I still really like it and it makes a great water toy. It's bright, and floats well. It was easy for my shepherd to grab onto without losing it. He loved it and wasn't very happy I took it from him when we headed back inside. If this one falls apart too soon, I may have to find a more durable pool toy. My camera was dead, but I managed to get some pictures from my phone. I included some photos after coming back inside showing the punctures and the broken stitching on one end after 2 hours of play and limited chewing. The damage was mostly from him just grabbing it from the water as I did not let him chew it outside the water for very long. Update 5/22 - added some photos after about 6 more hours of use. It fell apart around the tag and the inside ended up slipping right out. My shepherd ended up still fetching just the inside. I'm sad that it fell apart so quickly and will have to find something that won't unravel with such a short time of play.

Durable, versatile toy my T-Rex loves
My tough chewers LOVE this toy!! Neither are swimmers, so I cannot attest to its buoyancy, though I know this toy is very buoyant and stays afloat as I have experience with other dogs who are swimmers. I have 2 dogs that destroy EVERY toy, even those deemed “indestructible”. I bought this so I have something to throw for them that is also long enough for them to play tugs, and me to play with them. One of my dogs is in the middle of his T-Rex phase, 80lbs of T-Rex puppy - and like a true teenager - wants to destroy everything. He has not been able to put a dent in this toy and has chewed on it endlessly. It’s not a hard toy either, it’s very soft, just the seams are strong and well made. For such a simple toy, both my dogs love it for different reasons and it really is versatile.

Chewer? Pass on this.
If you have a chewer this is not the toy for you! My golden destroyed this in five minutes. I do realize I bought the petite size (by mistake), but I don’t think that the size would make a difference in my dogs capacity to ruin thes.

Great Quality!
The Chuckit Amphibious Bumper Fetch and Float Dog Toy has quickly become a favorite in our household! This toy has proven to be an exceptional addition to our dog's playtime, both on land and in the water. The Chuckit Amphibious Bumper is made from durable, high-quality materials that can withstand rough play and chewing. Despite countless hours of fetching, tugging, and biting, the toy remains intact and shows minimal signs of wear. It’s clear that this toy is built to last. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with the Chuckit Amphibious Bumper Fetch and Float Dog Toy. It has enhanced our playtime significantly, providing my dog with endless entertainment and exercise. The combination of durability, floatability, ease of use, and versatility makes it a top-notch toy. I highly recommend it to any dog owner looking for a reliable and fun toy for their furry friend. It’s definitely a worthwhile purchase that delivers great value and enjoyment.

Durable and my dog loves these.
My Aussie loves this toy. He will retrieve it on land or in the water. I find it easy to throw and can get distance on it. It is not good for tug though, so if you are looking for a tug toy, this will not last, the seams will rip. But as a retrieving toy, this one rocks it! I was disappointed to get a pale lime green one though. I missed the note that said it might be a different color than shown. The blue/orange is much more visible in the water and the snow. I personally will not get another one where I can't pick the color. Wish the seller would have shown both colors in the pictures and let you choose.

Lasted 30 seconds
Price quality is terrible, I expected a much stronger more robust product, it literally broke writhing 30 seconds of play.

Great water toy for a water loving cocker spaniel
After seeing another spaniel with this toy I bought it for my cocker spaniel Bertie who adores the water but needs something to be thrown in for him to fetch. After a few weeks of heavy use it's been a massive success and now bought a second one as a spare. I went for the small size as Bertie is a fairly small spaniel and I think it's ideal for him since he can easily pick it up and carry it, I suspect the medium would be a bit too large for him. The toy has a reasonable amount of weight to it and with the string on the end makes it easy to throw it a good distance. It seems to float well in all conditions and the bright colour makes it easy for Bertie to spot and collect, I'd been concerned the green was a bit dull however it's much brighter in real life. Durability is a concern although so far the toy has been holding up fine despite a lot of heavy use but will update the review if it prematurely starts coming apart. So far though it's just been a fantastic purchase. Normally I need to try and find suitable sticks which isn't possible in some areas or they're scarce, many don't throw well and can be hard for Bertie to spot plus there's always the risk of them being chewed on if the action isn't moving fast enough. I've tried balls instead but he struggles to pick them up in his mouth in the water with nothing to push against and smaller balls are harder to spot.

It works, it floats dog loves it
Really pleased with this purchase, I would not usually pay this much for a toy but this one is worth it. It floats, it's light, it's easy to throw and easy to see and the dog really loves it. It is NOT a "chew toy" it is a floating, retrieveable toy. I throw it, my dog rushes off into the water to fetch it, she know this is a game of fetch as she would do with her ball. As soon as the dog brings it back I ask her to drop it so I can throw it again. She quickly realises that's what's happening so there is no problem getting her to drop it. I would not leave it with her to let her chew it, that is not the point of it, and she would damage it. It will remain wet for a while, so I put it in a spare poo bag for the rest of the walk and then hang it to dry at home - it dries quickly
