Way back in the year 2001, myself and a few friends decided to cycle from Lands End to John O'Groats. It was one of those 'once in a lifetime' trips, so we took along a video camera to record the journey and our diary.Jump forward 20 years and I haven't seen the video in a very, very long time. Who still has video recorders these days? Well, I do, actually. Buried beneath mountains of other rubbish in the attic. Next problem; compatibility. You see, old VHS video recorders aren't compatible with modern 4k ultra high definition TVs.That's where this little box of magic comes in. By connecting it to the video player, and dropping in a memory card, I can finally transfer my old cycling trip diary onto a thumb drive and then onto any other device I fancy. But adjusting the settings I can also adjust the frame ratio so that it'll fill a wide-screen tv, without losing too much detail. It's brilliant! To be totally honest, it didn't work straight out of the box. I still needed to get a scart convertor to get full functionality. But it works. And now I can transfer all our old home videos into a digital format for future viewing pleasure.The price is a little high but, as its a one time purchase, that'll always have a use, I think its an acceptable expense. I'm happy to recommend it to all.I always try to write an honest and unbiased review of all the products I order. My reviews are only my opinion, of course, but I hope they help.

Used a Canon mini dv tape camcorder until 2010 resulting in many mini dv tapes stored away. Have tried for a number of years to find ways of transferring from camcorder to pc (Canon used a camera to pc hd/dvd connection that faded into obsolescence in the later 2000s). Spent a lot of money on Pinnacle products, cables, av leads and nothing worked. This was a last resort, but happy days it works! HDMI out from camcorder to HDMI input on this capture box works a treat. Good quality video (if it was recorded in HD originally) and audio. Expensive, but I've wasted a few quid over the years to get these memories digitised, a further 200 quid was my last resort. Some reviews have mentioned the quality of the capture box, which fair enough, it isn't a £1300 Samsung Galaxy, but it's as good as Nintendo Switch and I find it solid and tactile. Recommended purchase if like me you have struggled for eons trying to find a way of recapturing you memories.

It does what it's meant to, it feels to be cheaply made, picture quality isn't that brilliant but it is easy to set up and use, you will need a scart to hdmi adapter if you're using an old fashioned scart only vcr, I did feel it to be quite expensive for the quality of the device, but it does do what it says it will do and that's convert vhs tapes to digital.

This is a really good video capture device. It works well and has both good video and good sound quality. Four stars.
