Let me be frank, If this is your first scanner, then you need to either go look at something else or you need to be prepared to learn how to use it properly. These are very powerful and quite complex tools, many people buy these and simply do not understand how to operate them. Take time to learn, start slowly, build your knowledge and you will be rewarded with an excellent scanner that is capable of delivering hours of entertainment. I recommend you join the facebook whistler trx pages and ask questions, there is no shame in asking for help.

As others have said it's not straightforward but invest some time learning how to use it and it's a great scanner.There are plenty of online and YouTube guides to help you along the way.Many other scanners charge extra for different digital modes and software. All this is included with no extra charge making this scanner a very good choice.I am very happy with this scanner and would highly recommend it if you're willing to take time to get to know the workings of it.

Purchased 2 whistler radio scanner on both occasions when opened scanner radio’s looked as if been used scratches to screen and no screen protector the scanner itself i have found easy to use I scroll down to tune mode making sure all DMR boxes our ticked in in main menu press play/ pause button scanner will pick any channel on Air it can’t unscramble scramble encrypted channels and can’t pick up any emergency services as they use tetra encrypted also it can’t pick up digital mobile phones like in the 1990s all good stuff encrypted scanner can be used with usb lead with out batteries scanner can charge rechargeable batteries at a slow rate

When it works it works great !!!It`s very moody, it either finds everything or it goes complitly deaf, complicated but after a couple of hours I managed to figure out everything.Get yourself a decent antenna as otherwise it`s more of a paper weight.Make sure you backup the sd before any updates !!!Pros: Very fast scanning, shows you ctts, dcs, colour code, group,Comes with a nice rubber case, comes with Air band,Simplex,PMR A and D and another couple of things to help you start..Cons: Updates might brake it, very complicated, goes deaf at random, expensive, charging is a joke.. takes about 2 days, goes through the AA batteries in 2 hours (Duracell rechargeble), I use an external charger very hard to get the rubber case off, usb port is mini .. very old fasion..Considering the price tag you would expect to be a bit more thought out !

a very good scanner, but a bit difficult to work out how to use. highly recommend watching youtube demos to figure it out
