iFixit iOpener Toolkit

Repairing phones in the past use to be a lot easier when I could easily access the back of the screws. These newer phones are more difficult because you now have to heat the adhesive gently and then pry the back of the phone off.The gel pad makes heating the adhesive very simple for its price range. Using a heat gun or hair dryer to soften the adhesive takes forever, and it can feel defeating because it takes a lot longer and its harder to gauge the progress.The other tools are fairly good products too. It's a lot better than the cheap tools that you find on Amazon. Last, I like the tray that it comes with because it can help you to sort parts while you are disassembling.The only thing that I wish it had is a metal opening tool to start the prying process. Because the metal opening tools are much thinner, they are easier to start the process. The main downside to the metal opening tools though is that there is a tendency to mar parts and if you're too aggressive, you may damage a main component.For the price of the product and quality, I am giving it five stars though.

I am completely satisfied with the tools included with the kit, but I wish this kit had a bag or tool roll or similar to keep all the pieces together. I ended up getting an inexpensive pencil case to hold everything, but it would be nice to have one designed specifically for this kit like many of the other iFixit kits.

I had to replace the Digitizer on a few Nintendo Switch Lights, the first one I tried doing with a heat gun, it worked but I was worried I would melt the plastic. for the second one, I used this, and it made it a breeze. Excellent value from a good company.

Used this to replace batteries in a couple of old Samsung phones... had to heat the pad a few times, but it does work awesome for softening the adhesive and allowing the back of the phone to separate. Go SLOW and use the picks to keep it separated while you are re-heating and re-applying the heat pad.I did not break the backs of the Samsung S8, or S9 I used this with. I know the adhesive won't be as strong as day one, because I broke the bonds to get it open, but no cracked backs and the protective case they went back into, should help keep the backs in place.it did loosen the camera adhesive as well, but it seems to be functioning without any issue.

It was the linchpin in getting the screen off. Patience, Perseverance, and iFixit.

Opener sucks. Main reason why I bought this because it's recommended so highly. Barely heats up edges of tablets where the adhesive is. Already had the accessory tools so pretty bad purchase. Hair dryer does better, but burns after a while.

Has everything you need and quality is good. What makes this set special is the iOpener heat pack.
