Good tool at a great price.
They work great. There are no extra guards or attachments, so if you need them do something different. These are for hard work, not precision grooming.

Much easier to use and lighter than corded shears
I have had small flocks of sheep on and off over the years. I'm 68 and have a bad shoulder and wanted to try battery operated shears. I am very happy with these. Lighter weight than the older heavy corded ones, easy to handle and operate. I have never been able to shear so fast! If you are a do-it- yourselfer with a small flock these are ideal.

Works great!
I do not have an former experience with shearing goats/sheep so this is my first but I think these are of high quality. They shear smoothly. They aren't quiet but aren't too loud either.

Blade fell off within minutes of first use, 2nd machine also won't cut- RETURNED!
Used it once for 5 minutes after oiling it thoroughly and making sure all knobs were tight. It shaved a small clump of wool on my sheep with CONSIDERABLE effort. I turned the blade tightening knob loose less than a quarter turn in case it was too tight to cut. I noticed it wasn't cutting anymore at all, increased speed gradually to all the way on high. It still would not cut. I turned it off,.I soected the blade and discovered that the top part of the blade either flew off somewhere or fell off. Not knowing whether or not the actual top blade was steel, I used magnet systematically through the whole sheep stall trying to find it. Then I scooped and sifted the bedding of the entire stall ,scoop by scoop from one end.to the other. No blade. The thing is about 3" wide.and.somewhat substantial in weignt, so if it just dropped somewhere,.I would have found it. If the thing.was flung that far out, that is REALLY dangerous! But of course, it's manufactured in China and therefore there would be no legal recourse if someone sliced up their face. I also checked the walls, ceiling,.scraped the entire stall and also outside the barn, a radius.of turning over material one scoop at a time. I also restrained the sheep and checked her body all over in case the blade tangled in her wool. No blade. I am now looking for replacement blades, and am very worried that the clamp that holds the top blade down may be shoddy construction. I noted when oiling it and following the very SCANT instructions provided that one side.of that clamp was not clamping down at the same level as the other side, as if it were crooked. This is the second, recent.big.ticket item.I hace bought from Amazon made in China that is just.not a good product. I have experience shearing sheep and alpacas with a manual hand shears, scissors, and a dog grooming electric razor. This unit was REALLY loud and easily can be dangerous if it is flinging blades at your face! . I sure hope I can find a replacement blade and that it's not as dangerous as it appears to be. Flinging metal blades at your face is NOT GOOD! Update: today is a few days later. They said they had to send a whole new unit. I got it. Lubricated it thoroughly. Do these blades not come sharpened,.and if so is that openly disclosed on the advertisement? The instructions said the blades are sharpened and ready to go, but it would not even cut a little wool on the sheep. I took it out to the barn, caught the sheep, only shaved her BELLY, which is the most sparse hair and not thick, not hard to cut....I got a 4" swath cut finally with considerable effort of 20 minutes or so...not really cutting anything at all. Loosened tension and tried, tightened tension and tried, adjusted speed all the way up to 9, the highest level. It was NOT cutting the hair very much really at all. 20 minutes of jabbing at that poor sheep and I got about 4" done and it wasn't shaved close to the skin at all. I'm going to find a way to go back to using my dog.grooming clippers or scissors that I've been using for 3 yrs on 4 sheep and 2 alpacas bc at least that cut the hair! I dunno if all these revus are payd for or what, but my experience was that this was a very expensive piece of dog doodoo and I am returning!!! Update: Returned both and didn't have to pay shipping. I see one of the units it says it can't process the return but the other unit return was processed. Contacted customer service via chat and took screenshots verifying that my card will not be charged for the second unit. About $182. Bc I have had dealings before w Amazon dipping into my bank account several times when I was a seller for them. So now I document every single thing.

They get very hot
Tried these for the first time today on a thick coated sheep, I managed to get thu the thick wool but it took time. The shears got very hot and I had to stop even tho I oiled to help them to keep cutting. But it has been years since I have done this, so maybe an experienced shearer things would move faster.
