Works - if you use it right
At first this trap did not work for me. I would see the mouse come out, sniff at it and then continue on his way. But then I read on the Trap Man website that I made a view basic errors ([...]) I bought mine second hand, and when I first received it I was handling it a lot, trying to figure out how it works and sticking my fingers in the trap doors - leaving my smell all over it. The manufacturers suggest that you leave the lid open for a night or two, so that the mice will see it as a feeding station, and leave their own smell on it. I left it open for one night with some cheese and salami, and the mouse cleaned it up. The next afternoon I left a small bit of salami two times, and it disappeared both times while I was out. Feeling confident that the mouse now knew where to get food from, I added more cheese and salami inside and closed the lid for the next night. I also placed two small pieces of salami on a small piece of paper towel which I carefully placed onto the trap door mechanism in the entrance, to lure him in. Next morning I found TWO mice in the trap! This is the big advantage of this trap, being able to catch multiple mice. I did not even know that there was more than one, and if I used a conventional trap, I would have had a false sense of security that my work was done.

Seems too stiff to work properly to catch any mice in our
I thought a humane trap would be better for catching the mice in our loft so I could release them in some woods. The trap has been down for a long time and nothing has been captured, although the mouse poo in the loft suggests they are still there. The ramp where the mouse enters just seems really stiff and I do not believe a mouse can actually get into the trap to become trapped. So in the months I have had this it hasn’t caught 1 mouse. Conventional traps have worked well with the same bait so I can only assume that I have a faulty unit. Which makes it expensive compared to normal traps. The peanut butter used in all the conventional traps works well but it was still in place in this one suggesting the mice cannot get into it. I will try once more and if no joy then it will be the bin I’m afraid. I really wanted this to work.

Comfortable stopover for unwanted mice !
I have used humane traps in the past, with only modest success, having found on occasion a very distressed animal inside. More often, the lightly built trap has been knocked over by the vigorous activity of the animal inside. This can be overcome of course, but is an added aggravation. I thought humane traps were worth a last try, with this one... actually ordering some `traditional' traps at the same time, so you can see I was sceptical. We had no wish to kill these animals, but they were proving very troublesome, and had clearly nested in the garage. On opening the [quickly delivered] box I was most pleasantly surprised to find a well made, well designed, substantial product. As long as the trap `balance' platforms worked correctly I was sure to catch the troublesome rodents ? It was also roomy enough to enable the animals caught to move around, and in my view big enough to act as a holding pen until their release. I set the trap, including a bottle cap full of water [stuck down with blue tack] peanuts and sunflower hearts as bait. In the morning I found we had caught two of the little blighters. The transparent top of the trap enabled them to be easily seen. They seemed happy enough ! a couple of hours later [when I walked the dogs] they were taken three miles away and released. They seemed comfortable enough in their trap which needs to be kept covered during daylight, [to reduce stress]. The size and construction of the trap is such that you do not feel that you are being cruel in keeping the animals confined for several hours. It is also able to act as a transport pen. Cleaning the trap is easy, just a case of washing it out in a bucket of water, then replacing the water and bait. After several days, another half dozen or captures, I seem to have cured my `mouse' problem. I am most pleased with the product, which is, in my view, well constructed and designed and looks like it will cope for years to come. [Not something I conclude about many products !]. The traditional traps I purchased are still in their packaging !

Excellent trap
I bought one of these a year or so ago. It has been really good in every way. Most importantly, it catches the mice. One of the previous reviewers said the mice in his house learned to get in and out. All I can say is that the Dorset mice are not that clever. It very rarely fails to catch a mouse when I know there is one in the house, the first night I put it down. And it's large enough that I've had up to three caught at one time without their being too cramped. It is also exteremly robustly built, unlike a small plastic version that I've had 2 of. And the glass lid both allows you to easily see when there's a mouse or two inside and to easily clean it ready for its next occupant! I use a spoonful of peanut butter and a chocolate just to give them a treat! It would be even better if word spread in the mous community that my house was not a good place to put down roots because you just get carted off in a nasty metal box, but alas this has not yet happened. I must have caught at least 25 in the past year but each time I think they're gone, after a few weeks another one comes (unless of course they are the same ones come back for some more peanut butter).
