Bowers & Wilkins Pi7 S2 Wireless Noise Cancelling Headphones with Bluetooth aptX, 24-bit Wireless Connection, and 6 Built-in Microphones Satin Black

I don't normally review things but I feel I have something to say about these so here goes. The Pi7 S2 are true wireless earbuds offered as a revamped version of the original Pi7, which I've never owned and didn't know about until recently. For earbuds they are expensive - £350, a full £100 premium over apple's Airpods Pro 2 and £80 more than Bose's QuietComfort Earbuds 2. I have been a user of the Airpods Pro 2 since they were released and loved them, to a point. The ANC is fantastic, they're always in your pocket and if you use iOS devices the convenience factor is huge. ANC is very important to me because I work in a busy office and often travel there on the tube so am constantly exposed to noise. Headphones aren't really a luxury for me they're a necessity. The APP2 are very convenient and have great ANC but there's something about their sound that makes me never want to listen to music, just TV or podcasts. It's hard to describe but I just don't enjoy music through them, it sounds kind of flat, clinical and just unenjoyable somehow. So I was umming and erring about changing headphones as I often do being an overpaid tech nerd, and was considering the Bose Quietcomfort 2 earbuds. They reportedly sound better and have better ANC so seemed like a good choice. And then after reading a few reviews of other buds I decided to take a punt and try the Pi7 S2. I'd seen one review on amazon where someone raved about them and wanted to see what the fuss was about. At this point I had read several reviews and the detailed reports on rtings so I had a fairly good idea about them and was fully expecting to be returning them in short order. Weak battery life, sub-par ANC, finicky controls, no ability to switch to transparency mode through the touch controls.. etc etc. I was expecting a flawed product but was totally unprepared for what was about to happen. I put these things in my ears and my whole world changed in the space of a couple of minutes. There's a great saying - "talking about sound is like dancing about architecture" and nothing makes me cringe harder than audiophile-style reviews where people try to describe qualities of audio with language. All I can say here is that i haven't heard anything that sounds so LOVELY in a long time. The sound through these buds to my ears is glorious, magical, almost other-worldly. It's barely believable that something so small can sound so good. Within a few minutes I was hooked, I couldn't stop listening. It just so happened that my family were away that weekend visiting friends so I spent a full two days with them almost entirely uninterrupted and I just couldn't put them down. They make me want to dance rather than just listen, the sound is so good. I haven't listened to any podcasts since I got them and have been exploring loads of different kinds of music that I rarely listen to or haven't listened to in years. They've rekindled interest in genres I'd long disregarded. Simply put they make the experience of listening to music a conscious joy rather than just a distraction. I have hifi separates that cost over £1000 that don't sound this good. In fact I can't remember the last time I heard sound this good - anywhere. Now, the compromises of these buds are very real. The controls are annoying and inconvenient. The ANC is practically useless and for some reason seems to dramatically increase the bass. Transparency mode sounds terrible and can only be activated through the app which often requires about 10 seconds to connect. Make no mistake the money you pay for these things is for the sound and some nice industrial design, but mostly the sound. To sum it up they are annoying as hell to actually use, and are less comfortable than the APP2 to boot, at least with the stock tips. The bluetooth connection has been very stable, no drop-outs that I've noticed so whatever issues plagued the Pi7 appear to have been fixed. The case doubles as a wireless transmitter which is pretty cool, not only can you connect it to a 3.5mm jack source but you an also connect it to a computer via USB-C and stream hires audio to the buds from the case. I tried an iPhone with a lightning to USB-C cable but that didn't seem to work. I checked with B&W, this feature uses the standard Apt-X codec which may be slightly better than the AAC that macs and iphones are normally limited to. However, I would absolutely trade this feature for better ANC, less annoying controls and a transparency mode that was actually usable. But despite all the problems, how could I go back after experiencing this? The APP2 were sold on ebay the very next day, there was no other choice I could make. And now I'm stuck with all this inconvenience and earbuds that don't mask any noise in the noisy environments I need to use them in. I've started wearing ear defenders over the top of them on the tube to work and in the office, which is crazy but it works well enough. It's a bit of an awkward compromise when buds like the QC 2 exist though. If I'd bought them instead my life might still be reasonably coherent right now. As well as ruining the APP2 forever for me they've also ruined my AudioEngine A5+ desktop speakers which until this I absolutely loved and raved about to anyone who'd listen. But now they seem dull and lifeless and I've started looking into B&W hifi speakers, which require a separate amp and will likely eventually end up costing £1000 or so. I feel like someone who's been given a small wrap of heroin to try and become an addict overnight. This was an expensive mistake but one I'm still very glad I made. Pi7 S2 is annoying, deeply flawed, and magical. Update: the best aftermarket tips I've found are JVC Spiral Dot++. With these the Pi7S2 sound absolutely glorious and I can't recommend these enough. I had to get one size up from my normal size though.

Wow! I've previously owned Etymotic wired earphones. When the cable broke I switched to Sennheiser in ear buds. I recently decided to improve so I bought over ear B & W Px7 S2e headphones. Anyway, I realised I didn't really like over the ear for travelling on the underground and using in the rain so I decided to try these instead. Everything literally sounds different and better than all my headphones before, the change was immediate with no need to change the sound profile, treble is bass etc. It's not just the clarity of all the sounds and instruments, but these headphones seem to have "spatially" arranged all the sounds and music in a much much better and unexpected way, I feel really immersed in my music now, I'm super impressed. I'm not using the stock tips and have instead opted for Sonicfoam tips and it's a much better combo !! I've tried Nick Drake, Led Zep, Jethro Tull, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Black Sabbath, Queen, Radiohead. They have all sounded phenomenal. Love these.

First have to say only got these today so first impressions do count and I am absolutely stunned by the quality and clarity of these and the design is .....stunning...but B&W are a class act who only know how to produce a Quality product. As I say if your quality sounds means and design means then these buds go far and beyond ,but let down by its electronic technology in 2023 compared to other brands. 1...battery life is poor compared to sony and others ,at best on full volume its max at 3.2 hrs on full charge. 2..pairing with your devices is a real pain in the ass ,and seems to take a space age to find my samsung Tab and samsung Phone,even when it does it take 6 attempts to connect . But after 3 charges and 9 hrs of listening I'm still hooked even with the issues.

Nachdem meine AirPods pro 2. Gen., die ich die Hälfte des Tages zum telefonieren, Podcasts oder Musikhören oder auch für den TV-Sound über Apple-TV in den Ohren habe, das Zeitliche gesegnet haben, habe ich in letzter Zeit mal wieder ein paar Kopfhörer ausprobiert und muss sagen, dass ich auf Anhieb diese B&Ws als die In-Ears mit dem besten Sound ever empfunden habe. Dabei habe ich sowohl ein Paar neue Apple AirPods pro, die Bang-und Olufsen Beoplay EX, die hier zu bewertenden Bowers&Wilkins sowie die Apple AirPods max gehört. Natürlich muss man fair bleiben und darf die kleinen Ohrenstöpsel bauartbedingt nicht mit Over-Ears vergleichen. Auf Anhieb war ich von den Klangfarben, der Wärme des Sounds, der Bühne und der Klarheit der Sprachverständlichkeit bei Wortbeiträgen begeistert. Das Handling fällt natürlich gegenüber den Apple AirPods deutlich ab, aber den Sound finde ich herausragend. Selbstverständlich kann man bei keinem der "Stöpsel" ein Noise-Cancelling erwarten wie bei Kopfhörern, die das Ohr komplett umschließen. Dennoch habe ich das bei den AirPods pro als noch am besten empfunden. Die Bang&Olufson In-Ears, die B&Omäßig sicher das ansprechendste Design haben, haben mir nicht gut gepasst, aber das kann auch an meiner Ohrform liegen. Fazit: Im Alltag mit schnellem Wechsel der Geräte (iPhone, Macbook und iPad) bleibe ich wegen der besten Anpassung an das Apple-Öko-System bei den AirPods pro, für Musik und lange Film- und Serienabende nutze ich die Bowers&Wilkins und, wenn ich wirklich mal sehr gutes Noise Cancelling benötige, leisten mir die AirPods max die besten Dienste. Nachtrag nach ein paar Wochen Betrieb: Der Klang der Bowers&Wilkins ist wirklich unfassbar gut für so kleine Kopfhörer. Allerdings ist das Handling zugegebenermaßen teilweise unterirdisch. Ich benutze sie hauptsächlich zum Filmegucken mit einem Apple-TV 4K. Die Verbindung muss bisweilen, wenn man den Raum verlassen hat, 1-2x neu hergestellt werden. Und: Manchmal läuft nach der Inbetriebnahme oben rechts im Fernseher ein Laufband mit komplett anderen Inhalten (bei mir YouTube-Titel), das man nur wegbekommt, wenn man alles resettet. Magisch! Und: Man kann die B&O nur immer mit einem Gerät verbinden, also kein schneller Wechsel zwischen iPhone, Macbook, iPad etc. Bitte: Arbeitet doch an der Software! Wäre der Sound nicht so zum Niederknien, hätte ich sie deshalb zurückgeschickt. Im Alltagbetrieb mit Geräte- und Funktionswechseln geht -was das betrifft- nichts über die AirPods pro. Funktioniert halt perfekt der Gerätekosmos.

En el momento de salir la version S1(2021) fué muy interesante por la calidad del sonido ( tenia fallos de conectividad, poca bateria, alcance del bluetooth, etc.), y ya entonces se cuestionaba la relacion calidad precio. Con esta revision la S2 se mejoró el alcance del bluetooth, la duración de bateria y del estuche sobre 1hora. Y ahi se acabó todo, pagando el mismo precio. Han mejorado un poco y eso es todo, no justificando el alto precio. Ya han sido superados por la competencia y no se justifica el precio solo por el sonido (que suenan muy bien, pero no admiten equalizacion. O te gustan o no te gustan, o sea que afina la compra). Cancelación de ruidos normal, controles de los auriculares mínimos, aplicación movil simple, .... Lo que es de traca es la calidad del estuche, tiene un tacto, calidad y ajuste de la tapa de unos auriculares chinorros. EDITADO: Utilizando el actualmente el Sony WF-1000XM5, no le envidiaras nada. EL sonido incluso puedes llegar a igualar y mejorar con los ajustes del EQ. Bateria, cancelación, etc superiores.

Ils sont superbe.un super son ,le meilleur son que j'ai eu dans des écouteurs, je suis passé des huawei au sony wh-1000xm4, il y a pas photo, le son et largement meilleur.Super agréable a porter on ne les sent pas du tout,mêmes apres plusieurs heures d'écoute, vraiment genial .Par contre manque de fonctionnalités par rapport aux Huawei et Sony.Si vous achetez ces écouteurs que pour le son ,vous pouvez y allez les yeux fermés.
