Weak Bass Response, Not As Rugged As Previous Model, No Carrying Case
Meh. OK. Bass response not as good as the initial JVC XXplosive ear buds I bought several years ago. Sounds a bit cheap and tinny. OK for audiobooks and podcasts but probably not a good option for audiophiles who listen to music. On the plus side, there's an inline mic so I can use these ear buds with my phone when using it as a phone and not merely as an audio player. But back on the down side, not as rugged as the original JVC ear buds I bought and this newer pair doesn't have that nice little hinged plastic box that's so handy for pocket carry. I'd have gladly paid a couple of dollars more for that little case that probably cost the manufacturer 10 cents, and may actually save JVC some money overall by eliminating the disposable packaging that does me no good.Go back to 10mm drivers and heavy duty tangle free cords, keep the mic, ship it in a durable plastic case that I can use for pocket carry that's shrink wrapped with a UPC barcode for $20 or less and this is a five star product.

Does what it says
Nice bass. Good sound quality. Ok durability. I go through a lot of headphonesUpdate. Had these for few months now and they still sound great. As I said I been through a lot of headphones and the sound quality of these sound just the same as my beats solo. I guess sound quality is subjective. Some like heavy bass. Some don’t. You should also take into account the type of media being played and the player itself. I mostly play flac files on my Galaxy s8. If u stream music find out if you are at 128 or 256 kps

Not as good as JVC HAFX1X Xtreme-Xplosivs
I bought a pair of JVC HAFX1X earbuds back in 2012 and they've served me well for the past 8 years. I used them mostly as a cheap set of headphones I took with me on plane trips around the world. They were light, extremely portable, and came with a case. The bass quality was phenomenal and they truly felt like a pair of quality earbuds at an extremely affordable price. Not only that but they were stylish and reliable on top of it. They've took so much wear and tear over the years, I thought that they were indestructible. The only downside was they didn't have a volume control or a microphone, which to some, isn't a downside if they are going for cheap and minimalist. Nonetheless, JVC earned a loyal customer. Unfortunately, the acoustic outlet was caved in after cleaning up the wax buildup from my ears so I decided to pick up a new pair.Enter the HAFX103R. It's 6 years newer so it should be better right? Wrong. I took a chance on them with some expectations going in and I was a bit disappointed. Price is roughly the same but bass has been turned way, way done. The difference is night and day when you swap them. Additionally sound quality is just a tad bit lower as well although this isn't as noticeable. It should be noted that size decreased by roughly 40-50% so that probably accounts for the drop in bass. I'm a slightly bigger guy (6'4) so my ears are a bit larger. These new earbuds can almost be placed almost all the way into my ears as opposed to the previous ones which stuck out a bit and felt just right. The only pro is that they come with a microphone to be used on your phones which I haven't tested yet.Oh and I wouldn't use either for the working out at the gym as they tend to fall out. For the gym, I got a nice set of over the ear bluetooth headphones. My honest recommendation? Pass these up and get the JVC HAFX1X if you just wanna listen to music on long trips. They are still good quality at a cheap price even in 2020.

Built In BASE on these decent headphones
I have purchased these several times to replace lost or broken headphones.Sound quality is good with built in base canons, but could be better in comparison to their other models. Sadly, my favorite model JVCs with built in base boosters is no longer available, these are the second best, but they are way less expensive. Price is nice. The red color makes them easier to find in a bag of other black cords and wires, noticeable if you drop them. Ear buds are comfortable fit, and they give you a few extras different size/design buds to try. Wires are sturdy enough, takes a while to wear them out with normal use.I really like these headphones, not the best quality sound, but good quality , good value for the price.

They crushed my positive image of JVC now they suck
I honestly like brand but the earbuds themselves are absolute crap as soon as I walked out into the cold the wires hardened up and the sound quality became very poor and after about a week it continued to get worse until it was completely inaudible. they might be good for someone who lives in a warmer climate or doesn't need them for everyday use like I do

You get the color in the picture, not the description
First off, these are my favorite ear buds. I'm a repeat buyer, first time on Amazon though. For bass heads they're are perfect - they have larger drivers than most budget buds will offer, and sound perfectly fine with any genre I listen to. I could not be happier with them.I'm by no means an audiophile, and I've never tried any hyper-expensive 'reference' buds (the most I've ever spent is $60 - it was a waste), but if you like to feel your skull vibrating when the bass drops, these are amazing. The only reason I rate 4 stars is because of the color. I ordered 'Blue' earbuds, but the picture is of red earbuds. When they arrived they were the red variant. I'm not an overly vain man, so I don't really care either way, but it would've been nice to have gotten my preference.I highly recommend these earbuds to anyone who doesn't want to blow a bunch of money on something that will get abused break in a year or two (that's my average lifespan on any earbuds).

Explosive? Maybe for ants, but for me...
Can’t decide if the product is worth the price. The sound is there, but it’s not quality. No difference in bass levels as what I here coming out of my phone / iPad. And there’s a constant scratching noise, no matter how loud or how soft, emminating from the ear buds. Not very good quality. And if I’m paying for name brand audio, it better be at least good audio. I realize the price point was good, but I should have bought the SkullCandy earbuds instead. Disappointed.
