Ghillie Aluminium Kettle & Full Cook kit - Adventurer 1.5L

My husband is into no frills camping and I saw him looking at this. I jumped at the chance to get him something for his birthday that he actually wanted and not the normal socks or smellies. A few weeks ago he finally managed to persuade me to have a go. Now I don't function until at least a pint of tea has been consumed so my biggest worry was waiting for 30 mins for a kettle to boil while precariously perched on some burning logs (forgot he has a hot tent and a wood burning stove). We arrived at the place and I was tasked with making a brew while he done all the complicated stuff. He made a small fire in the bottom bit, put the kettle on and in a few minutes I was happily sat there clutching a steaming cup of tea watching him pump up air mattresses, get a sleeping bag out of a pack that looks wayyy to small for it to fit ect. In conclusion my fears about having to wait ages to get a caffeine fix were unfounded and it didn't take much longer than my kettle at home.

This thing is so good you really have to use it to believe it. You can boil a gallon of water in way less than 10 minutes using just a couple of handfuls of twigs, leaves and any other dry organic detritus you find lying around. Waste paper even. Your electric kettle costs a bomb to run. This costs *nothing* and works faster. And unless you reverse your car over it or something it can't go wrong because it's so simple. A nice tip for lighting it quickly is to rub some Vaseline into some cotton wool and use that as the base of the fire. Once that's going and the thing starts drawing it'll burn any old rubbish and before you know it you'll be drinking tea with enough hot water left over for a foot bath and the washing up.

If like me you enjoy burning tuff then this is a must. Brew up whilst making your own small bonfire beneath the kettle. Very robust and the grill and saucepan make it even more versatile. Tea and then bacon and eggs on the river bank...or whilst camping.

After watching a video on YouTube about how these are made I just had to get one for myself and I'm glad I did. Such a brilliant piece of kit. My only regret is not ordering one a long time ago.

I bought this as a present for someone. They haven't used it yet so my scores are based on appearance alone. I'm no expert, but it looks very well made and it isn't too heavy. Would recommend

Perfect size for a family / friends camp out or just to bring on long walks where you'd want a tea break. Cooking equipment is perfect for this too, very happy with this very easy to use
