The Shadow Woman: The Shadow Woman: A Chief Inspector Erik Winter Novel : Edwardson, Ake, Carlsson, Per: desertcart.ae: Books Review: An interesting read. I found the story a little confusing to begin with and l couldn't quite grasp which direction the plot was taking . However as l read on the plot took on a more intriguing path. By the end of the book l was hooked and took every opportunity to read it.The main character is interesting and very credible. The plot unfolds slowly and though not sensational it is gripping. I enjoyed this novel and intend to read more by the same author whose style of writing reminded me of P.D.James and Ruth Rendall. Review: This entry in the excellent Winters Scandi noir series is notable for its main character, a murdered mother whose identity is chased deep into the book, unspooling the tale of a feud between rival biker gangs. The story of how Winters and his team doggedly track down the mother's identity, and the decades-long story of tragic violence that they thereby uncover, is expertly paced and beautifully written. The book's protagonist, the handsome, obsessional, brooding police detective Erik Winter, is his usual handsome, obsessional brooding self (rarely will books leave you with as vivid an impression of their main character's hunkiness as this series succeeds at doing), and the frequent peeks into his psyche and private life are as enjoyable as ever. The story's message is not the most subtle, but notwithstanding, it has a special power to absorb and engage that makes it very satisfying.

I really loved this story - more than I did the first book I read by this author. Erik Winter is the main character and lead detective. In this story a woman is found murdered in a lakeside ditch - thereby ending Erik Winters vacation. The police cannot find out who the murdered woman is - no one comes forward to claim her. They do know that she has a child though At the same time Eriks fellow detective, Aneta,is attacked and sent to the hospital. A big celebration is occurring in the town and people are drinking - and their are bikers getting out of hand The story held my interest and I have ordered the next in the series

Received this book, & it was in very good shape, that I like! The author is not known to me, so was a bit uneasy about ordering book. So glad to say, I enjoyed it very much. The finding of the book was a happy accident, & all dealings with the order were pleasant. This is a very good read, & was a suspenseful story. Fans of Elizabeth George will like this book. Some references to local custom I did not understand, but did not take away from story. Will try another mystery by Ake Edwardson. Main character interesting to know.
