Q: Will one of the solar fountain work in this?

You need only about 3/“ deep water, and I’m not sure how deep this dish is, but the solar fountain we used (seen on the product page here) works VERY well without any nozzle at all. Just a ice 2” to 3” soft burbling spout of water, perfect to attract birds, not scary or off-putting. Sound isn’t nice too. I’d say try it!

Q: Does the copper get too hot in the sun?

We had a real warm day today (96), so even the water was warm but the copper is reflective and didn't feel too hot

Q: Description says it's Glass and its copper which is it?

The one I bought is glass. It is fairly slippery and deep. When filled with water no bird uses it as a bird bath. We had a clay one that was only 1 1/2" deep and birds came to splash in it all day. This one they simply perch on the edge and take a drink. We see mostly small birds, but an occasional pigeon shows up once in a while. It's just a pretty, expensive yard decoration. I don't recommend buying this glass bowl as a bird bath. It is fairly expensive for a bird drinking site. It just doesn't serve our purpose. I wanted a bird bath. The hammered copper is probably slippery, too, and won't work as a bird bath either.

Q: what type of stand does it require? will it accept a ground stake?

You will need to create some kind of stand. I had a problem as well figuring out how to place it. I set it in a 8" round pot on top of a cut off tree stump. Not fancy but suits the birds fine.
