AZDelivery 3 x Data Logging Recorder Shield Module with SD Card Interface compatible with Arduino including E-Book!

It is OK, but beaware that it is not compatible with the mega board.

I bought this shield for an Arduino Uno working with an Ethernet Shield as a web server. The incoming HTTP requests are logged in a file on an SD card in the Ethernet Shield but I wanted to add a date and time to each log entry. This data logger shield arrived promptly and was well packaged. The box contains just the shield (with a 3V lithium CR1220 cell already installed) and a card with a QR code that links to the eBook pages of the AZDelivery website. There is no documentation in the box.Being a German company the AZDelivery website is of course in the German language. Slightly hidden away there is an option for an English version of the site but as I moved from page to page I found it would forget my selection of English and revert to German again. The eBook pages contain documentation for dozens of AZDelivery products and each one has a thumbnail photo of a book cover with the title in, you guessed it, German. The website is slow to respond and it was tedious to go through 7 web pages with 36 thumbnails per page looking for the correct eBook for this shield. I missed it the first time around but eventually found the right one: DatenLogger_Englisch.pdf. In order to download the PDF you must provide an email address. I suggest you give a disposable address because every day after downloading the eBook I received at least two emails from AZDelivery, and since they were all in German and I'm not a German speaker it wasn't obvious how to unsubscribe. Eventually I copied the contents into Google translate and the flow of emails has reduced but I still receive an occasional email, still in German, so I've no idea what they're offering.The eBook is well written and illustrated and although I suspect it was written by a German with English as a second language I have no complaint about the quality of the documentation. The only slight drawback is that although the text is in English the screenshots of the menus in the Arduino development environment are in German. It steps through how to download and install the Adafruit library for the real time clock, and this provides example sketches to verify that the shield works, so very quickly I had a sketch running which allowed me to set the clock and then view regular date and time updates in the Serial Monitor window.I then modified my own Arduino code to incorporate a date and time into my log entries, which was exactly what I wanted. The RTClib.h that needs to be included in my sketch is small and hasn't consumed much memory, which is important with the 32KB Arduino Uno where you need to code efficiently to avoid memory issues.I didn't use the SD card socket on this shield because I'm already using the one on the Ethernet shield but the documentation in the eBook looks clear for that too.However the biggest disappointment was the timekeeping of the real time clock. Mine is running fast by 10 seconds a day which is unacceptable. For a purchase price of £8.29 I haven't the time to return it for a refund but I regret buying this shield and feel there must be an RTC shield with a more accurate clock available somewhere.

Used with my Ardinio and fits OK. Got it working and collectig data on sd card.

The surface mount soldering is fine. However the hand soldering of the stacking connectors is terrible. They are not even down on the board. Looks like it was done by somebody with zero skill. I'm not returning it because i cant be bothered, and I can fix it myself. Choose another brand, this is very poor.

works with Arduino Uno but not Geikcreit. SPI pins don't connect.

Arrived swiftly, plug and play with my clone Uno, uses standard libraries and is now busy logging multiple temperatures.
