Kolkata Chai Decaf Masala Chai mix, Makes 20 cups, Premium loose leaf tea and spice blend, All Natural, 4.23 oz

This might be the only chai mix that takes me back to India without the 20 hour flight. Its blend of spices are perfect and the directions are spot on. Sometimes premade chai mixes or instant chai are too sweet or cloying but the flavors of this one are right and the quality of the tea flavor and strength are exactly what I’d want. It’s also less expensive than the other decaffeinated assam tea I’ve found. I will be a customer over and over.

Excellent taste! Fresh dried spices!! No artificial flavours!! And Decaf!! Perfect for pregnant/ breastfeeding women, also people with high blood pressure!! You can see a mortar and pestle in my uploaded photos. Coming from India, I never buy masala chai, and always crush the spices and make my own masala chai at home, because the masala chai available in the market is either never fresh, or just added flavours, sometimes too much flavour or under flavoured. I just brewed a cup with a teaspoon full of this tea! Love it!! And now I do not have to make masala chai from scratch when I’m craving it!!

I really enjoy this chai but as others have noted, you can use less and still get great taste. I do doctor mine up a little bit by adding fresh ginger and additional green split cardamom. I have tried making it with regular milk and evaporated milk and honestly, it tastes more authentic with the evaporated milk. I like the fact that they leave the sweetening up to you. My experience is that a half teaspoon or so of white sugar does the trick. I will order this again.

The best homemade SUGAR FREE chai I’ve found yet. I’ve tried just about everything and most of the sugar free options out there had sugar alternatives that made me sick or just tasted horrible. I love that this is decaf and that I can control the sweetener myself. Tastes very authentic. The only thing is that the instructions mentioned to use 3 tsps but 1 tsp was super concentrated. 3 tsps would def be too much.

I discovered Kolkata when I was in NYC and met a friend at their chai house. I had a headache and the tea cured it (I wanted decaf but they only had regular available, so I got it and it was awesome, luckily in the daytime). I saw they had decaf but didn't buy it due to the price. Later I ordered it here. I make my own chai but having it with the taste of the tea leaves is more authentic, but I don't typically do caffeine. I make a double batch but only need one tablespoon so it lasts a little longer. **Shake up or mix the bag first or you will get an uneven flavor in your batches. The spices rise to the top.** In a pot, boil water and tea to your liking (sometimes I also add cinnamon). While it's heating up, take a piece of fresh or frozen ginger and grate it with a microplane over the pot. Stir. Once boiling, turn down the heat to low and steep for 3 minutes. Add an equal amount of milk to water and boil again, then lower to a simmer for 3 minutes. Add honey to taste. Pour with a strainer, and keep the rest in a jar in the fridge for a delicious cold tea later!

Gross. Tastes like wet dead flowers and grass. Not like any chai I have ever had before.

I am so glad I found this chai mix. As of this writing, it's cheaper to buy through Amazon (vs the company's website) because I have free shipping through Amazon. It is easy to prepare, and hits the spot! I drink it almost every day. I steep it for approximately 3 minutes longer than the directions call for, and it's just right for me! [I put the tea into the cold water, and only start the first 3 minute timer once it begins to a boil. Once the timer goes off, I add the milk, take it off of the heat so I can drink it immediately upon completion, start the second 3 minute timer, and add 1 heaping Tablespoon of sugar.] YUM!

This is absolutely the best chai tea I have had in years! Truly authentic! This chai reminds of the first time I had authentic chai that was made for me by an Indian friend’s mother. I love that they have a decaf option for those sensitive to caffeine and that it is not loaded with sugar. I control the amount of sweetness if any. With that said, even their caffeinated chai does not make me jittery. It gives me the alertness I need on some mornings but not the jittery feeling other chai teas have done. And the taste is off the charts!!! WELL DONE YOU, KOLKATA CHAI CO!!!!
