Daredevil: The Man Without Fear TPB (Daredevil (Unnumbered))

What a great book. Miller crafts a perfect character arc for Matt Murdoch, more than ably assisted by Romita Jr's dynamic art. One thing that always turned me off Marvel superheroes is the camp, gaudy costumes. Here, you only see the silly DD costume right at the end. This grounds the story and its visuals in relatable reality. This isn't glossy all-American superheroes for kids, this is a crime thriller of the highest regard.

Romita's excellent artwork is well served by Miller's fantastic writing. If you only read one DD story, then this is it, etc. Etc. Obviously the inspiration for the Netflix TV show, and rightly so. A comic book classic, and I grew up with the 'original'. Frank Miller's tour de force reboot is bprobably worth five stars, not the measly 4 I've awarded it, but i can only give a book 5 if, when reading it, i have to suddenly change my boxers, be it for good or ill. And i didnt - quite - soil them on this occasion!

Very good story and art. I've re-read this a number times

As a fan of the Netflix series I have been trying out a couple Daredevil graphic novels, this being my second one. Miller's take on the origin story is very good and has obviously been used for the programme, as there are quite a few similarities. If you haven't read a Daredevil comic before then this is a great place to start and the artwork is great too.

Absolutely fantastic. Really colourful on a tablet. Brilliant story showing the origins of Daredevil. I'm going to buy the next book.

I genuinely got a kick out of this reworking of Daredevil's origin story. Frank Miller gets two thumbs up from me. Having read the first telling of this tale, I liked this smoother less janky reimagining. These rewrites don't always work but this one does.
