good clear instructions
Very pleased with my purchase. so much happier that it has the dash camera as well. Also notices that pop up make you aware of hazards

Clear screen and information
Works well, clear instructions. Switch off the lane deviation warning before you throw the device out the window! Doesn't like single track roads. Would be better if dash cam position could be altered independent of screen.

Screen size
I had a Navicam 6” screen where as I thought a the size of the new one’s screen size was 5” I did not think the difference would be so much So being as Garmin don’t sell or replace this model as it is obsolete I decided to get it repair! I returned the Garmin Drive Assist 51 back on the 10 November but did not received an email from Royal Mail and as of today it is not showing a received by Amazon ??

Easy to set up not too techie
Simple to set up does what it says nice clear screen not tested dash cam yet but all in all a very good upgrade on my last Garmin Sat Nav which I have had for 8 years.

Garmin DriveAssist 51SatNav - Questionable reliability
Let me start out by saying I love this product. I've got one, my wife and son do, too. The way they record every minute of your journey, are very simple and easy to operate, and the processing of footage back home on your computer is an absolute revelation. However, the bottom line is - They are not reliable. Mine went faulty and was replaced last year, very efficiently and with no problem by Amazon. A few weeks ago my wife's went faulty too, and as it was outside the warranty period I was told 'tough luck' and we had no option but to buy a replacement, and they aren't cheap!I opted for a reconditioned one, as it was considerably less expensive, but when it came it looked like an older model than the one it was replacing, so I sent it back, then bit the bullet and bought a brand new model at full price. Here's the kicker - I was in the car yesterday with the new model, just a few days old, stopped for petrol, and when I restarted the car the screen was completely black, with no power. I tried everything, unplugged it, waited etc etc, but alas nothing!I contacted Amazon earlier and was initially told my only option was to have the BRAND NEW unit repaired! Anyway, long story/short the replacement is coming tomorrow. But, my advice is whilst these satnav/dashcams are a great product, the are not reliable, and sooner or later, you'll need a new one, hopefully inside the warranty period. Message to Garmin - SORT IT OUT! This is the last one I will be buying, next time I will go elsewhere to find reliability.

Good piece of kit
Great sat nav, love the built in dash cam, the playback with mapping detail is awesome. Just wish it wouldn’t “reboot” every know and then.

Useless pile of smelly stuff
Looks nice but either tells me map data corrupted. Am unable to download again due to then being told maps and software up to date or it freezes up for 5 or so minutes. Next up, unable to pick up any satellites, telling me I am 50 or so miles away from where I am. Its going back. Go ma 200 mile journey to make soon. Will be printing out directions from a map app.

Not as convenient as I expected
Great idea to have satnav and dash cam together, especially as it requires only one outlet to plug it in to, but locating in the windscreen is awkward. There are times when the sun shines on satnav so the picture is difficult to see. Normally you would just tilt it slightly, but that throws off the direction of the dash cam.

Incorrect description
Purchase was based on Amazon description that it was pre-loaded with US maps as well as Euro maps. After initial setup I tried to enter a US address and it would not accept. Called Garmin help desk and they advised that it was Euro maps only based on SN and could not remotely push the US maps to device. Had to return device and Garmin no longer produces the 51LMT-S.

wirklich brauchbar
Fazit: Kann man guten Gewissens kaufen.

Garmin driveassist 51

Great Garmin, could be a bit more user friendly
I got my first Garmin ever in 2008 (a nüvi 760) which it lasted a very long time, so I looked for a replacement. This Garmin has the trademark nice clear sharp visibility that I like so much in Garmin, the voice option for male English is quite pleasant, descreet and smart on saying the minimum while still giving directioins. (the opposite of that app everyone uses from G*). I don't use much the camera, but when I tried, it works nicely as well. There are add-ons, like speed camera alerts on suscription based but I haven't tried them.Compared to my old Nüvi 760, the shortcuts could be better, specifically the find a detour, in my old Nüvi finding a detour was just a click away, in this model it is not obvious not immediaty, which I find disappointing, finding a detour because of events on the road it can happen at any time and one need to immediately have that option. Another minus point is the search engine is not as good if you're not looking for a specific address but a point of interest. Other than this, I still prefer to pay extra to use a Garmin product for navigation.
