Perfect (really) for home practice on the cheap - to be clear, not for gigging
So if you're looking at this product the chances are you're wanting to be able to have a little amp to practice bass at home, and ideally you wouldn't spend a fortune. So I'll get to the point: 1. Does it sound good? Yes - actually the tone is great, I do not use the drive channel as that's not my thing personally. However the clean channel really sounds like my bass :) 2. How loud is it? Loud enough to not be able to hear your bass acoustically BUT (and this is a good thing) you need to be close to the amp and it needs to be facing you really. This means you can play at what seems like a decent volume, without annoying anyone ele (mostly) I crank the volume to full, then add gain about half way - all good. 3. Does it run ok on batteries? Yes - in fact that is the only way I'm using it. I have good quality (2300ma) re-chargeable batteries and it works and sounds great. 4. Is it worth it? Yes with a but. It really depends on what your need is. If this is to be your amp and you hope to gig in pubs etc, then this is NOT the product for you. However, if you are looking for something JUST to use around the house, get a decent tone and not make everyone around you crazy, then YES - this is perfect. It's crazy that we've gotten to a point with technology that something so small and cheap can perform so well. 5 stars from me (for the very specific use case of just around the house)

Amazing
Returning to playing after about 30 years of not touching a bass and now married and more aware of the neighbours - this amp is perfect - it’s loud enough to play along with your favourite tunes but won’t rattle the windows or disturb anyone in the next room if you take care of the volume - the gain and tone actually work - it’s an amazing deal - £36 ? - no brainer

pretty near perfect
For its price , this is a great little amp, with both a clean and dirty sound, so is suitable for a wide variety of instruments, electric and acoustic. A lot of fun, and small enough to keep out most of the time...light and portable My only quibble is that the volume changes massively when you press the clean/dirty button to change betweens sounds. If there was a way of balancing these volumes it would be near perfect for its size. and price. Great value for money

Lovely practice amp, read review
I’m giving it a 5 for bass practice, not for gigs. Bass for gigs needs a lot more boom! If you live in a small space and you don’t want to mess up the neighbours. The sound from a small box is not too bad. I took the amp to the Czech Republic last year to a sleepy village, I only started playing bass early last year. I was able to practice with it with confidence. My teacher was impressed with my progress. Obviously no comparison to a lovely big bass stack of your choice. I have a music history playing in bands in the past guitar and vocals. I keep this little amp at work and keep a cheap bass guitar there. I have a little practice between patients. Before anybody moans I don’t work for the NHS. Good amp buy it.

Great for the price but the price is LOW
You won't get a decent name brand practise amp that is quiet but for anything like this price. If you buy an Orange micro or something similar I suggest using it as a decoration and nothing more. At low volume with decent set up and a couple pedals to shape the tone this works perfect in my living room as an option when I need to be quiet but don't want to play unplugged, like when people are just hanging out. I have an old style 15 Roland cube with four speakers and I don't like moving it into the living room when I have people over as it feels anti social, then playing it super quiet so as not to be feels like a waste of moving it. This allows me to be as quiet as someone noodling on an acoustic, even my misophobic partner doesn't mind it low. I am currently using super light strings on a P bass and I did have buzzing issues but when I set the tone nob on my bass to lowest setting that went away, so I'd say this does its job as a BASS practise amp, if you try too much high end I feel the quality suffers but keep it low and you'll enjoy the tone.

Handy home practice bass amp
Lightweight and retro design. Probably won’t stand being knocked about, but obviously aimed at home use so no real issue. Has side buttons for a carry strap, but doesn’t come with one. Great sound for its size and plenty loud enough for home practice and won’t annoy anyone!

Very Impressive for the Price
Having previously tried very small practice amps (by that, I mean amps below 25w), I really didn't expect much from this JOYO. I needed a physically small amp to fit in a particular place, but with a sound which was at least acceptable. This was primarily to put my acoustic bass through. I was seriously impressed with this little amp. The sound is clean, and that is exactly the sound I was looking for. One of the other small amps I had previously tried was the Vox 10w. Despite the more 'professional-looking' build, etc., the sound was distorted and awful. At this price-point, the JOYO is a keeper (despite its looks).

Great Amp for battery use. Mains adapter buzzes.
Great amp for the price. Using rechargeable batteries, it lasts a long time. For me, It will run all day on two sets of batteries. Not giving it four stars because the power adapter buzzes annoyingly but I purchased it mainly for battery use so I can live with that. The build quality is reasonable for the price but I wouldn’t want to drop it, even once. The auxiliary input is great for beats or backing tracks when practicing. I use it when playing electric bass with others playing acoustically. Best for playing in quiet locations such as practice sessions, barbecues, camping, small beach parties or perhaps small house parties at best. Definitely not for gigging or busking, (only 10w). Very portable if you add a guitar strap using the side lugs.

Got this amp based on size and budget. Do keep in mind it's a practice amp. I'm surprised how well it sound, especially on the bright tone. Connected with Mini Martin acoustic guitar and Boss VE-8 pedal...it's good enough to fill a living room with vocal and guitar. As mention, it's a practice amp so do not expect it will be loud as loudbox mini or Acoustasonic. Battery option really make this unit more convenience and portable. Overall, this is a really fun amp with affordable budget. Joyo is really good at good quality products with affordable pricing.

I don't often write reviews, but I felt it was needed for this little portable bass amp that I love so much! It has been 2 years since I bought this, and everything still works 100%. I rarely use the adaptor as the battery life with the 6aa batteries is awesome; I literally get 3-4 months of regular playing out of one set of batteries! I've played small acoustic gigs with this, practice wearing headphones, and jam along with my smartphone, and it has been great! Not to mention it is incredibly light weight and easy to carry using a guitar strap. I have played this cool little amp alot and it has held up perfectly with no problems. If you turn it up too loud, the speaker will distort, which is to be expected. But it is just loud enough to play nicely with an acoustic guitar and singer. My speaker still sounds great after 2 years. Be realistic about the sound; it's not going to rival my small 25w Fender Rumble, but it sounds good to me! Fingerstyle, picking, slap and pop all sound nice! If this somehow died tomorrow (which I highly doubt) I would 100% buy another one. This little amp has been one of the best music gear purchases Ive made in a long time. I also recently bought their pocket bass amp for use with headphones and it's also fantastic! I think Joyo makes awesome reliable gear at a great price! Just have realistic expectations for what you pay. I will gladly support Joyo and recommend their gear to others!!
