Surprisingly good value for money (for Bose)
I think I’ll start by saying that these actually have not only surpassed my expectations beyond just a fun and novel concept, but also may have just become a permanent part of my weekly tech life.First impressions are that, I actually have been incredibly surprised by the definition and volume of the audio you get from this headphone and Sunglasses hybrid. By all means, the definition and low quality of bass is obviously never going to be that of headphones or earbuds, such as the phenomenal Sony XM series, but the amount you do get projected into your ears is far more than I would have ever expected. So much so that when I put them on for the first time and played a Podcast from my phone, I actually went WoW! Did the same with my partner (who is not a tech or audio buff by any means) and they actually too gasped with amazement. It’s a trade-off which is where these fit that middle ground perfectly. If you’re happy to lose some definition, in return for having more awareness and outside audio subtly mixing in with your music or podcast, this is where these sunglasses are perfect. I’ve found them to be excellent when running, as lightweight enough to feel like a normal pair of sunglasses but the added bonus of delivering my podcasts and music playlists very efficiently, whilst taking in some background awareness. I did even wear them in some light rain expecting them to go terribly muffled as water droplets clog the tiny speakers, but this didn’t happen, although I am not 100% on their water or sweat resistance so don’t take my input here as gospel. They were also quite good in the city centre as I went around town taking pictures. I even took a couple of phone calls using the in built handsfree and again it worked great, although one caller complained of hearing the wind a lot when it wasn’t that severe my side, so don’t buy them solely o their background noise suppression.Battery life wise, I would say I get a comfortable 5 hours actually using. So there’s plenty of battery for a couple of days commute (maybe three) and enough to last a full marathon. The battery isn’t obviously anywhere near what you would get from proper headphones but this is another area these exceeded my expectation. Good enough for it to be viable for everyday use without having to charge 2 times a day.I almost forgot to mention, they don’t look obnoxious too or have stupid branding or design traits that suggest they are anything other than sunglasses. Yes, a bit hanging down on the arms where the speakers are housed but they’re comfortable and not ostentatious by any means. So, for less than £100. These are not just a luxury item for the niche, it’s actually a very good option for runners, commuters, those going hiking, travelling and potentially cyclists… maybe. I very much look forward to seeing how the next generations of these refine on this concept. A great product by Bose.Room for improvement:- Charger - It works, but it’s just not very secure. The magnetic pins to make the charger connection seem just a little weaker to be a convincing connection and if you move the headphones whilst charging, the bending of the cable itself might pull the charger away.- The case - It’s not great and the cable being loose will probably scratch the lenses (even in the pouch). I strongly suggest getting the 3rd party hard case for a better carry option.- Battery Life - I said I thought this was quite good, surprisingly. But it could always be improved. Maybe next gen will be double.

Bose sound quality this isn't.
Nice sunglasses and just sitting on beach wanting to be present or walking out 20 mins or so, these are ideal, they fall down on bass massively and the noise spill is noticeable at around 50%.However for the right situation they are great and people are always interested on them

Perfect frames, short battery life, long charging time..
Bose Frames (Alto)Pluses:+ Sound quality - surprisingly good - comparable to other Bose products (balanced sound - if you expect “over” bass, you are at wrong address with bose)+ Design - fits well, looks decent, suitable for almost any ocassion+ Replaceable lenses - easy replacement+ Custom original lenses available: mirror polarised lenses and blue gradient lenses. Unfortunately, it seems, it is not possible to purchase the original grey leses, that came with the frames - in my view, the best of them (I do have all 3 types).+ Prescription lenses - please ask your optician to watch the youtube replacement video (https://youtu.be/f5uc7BnbPTI) before replacing (not to heat the frames)Minuses:- Poor battery life (about 2,5 hours listnening to music/podcasts/talking on the phone)- Long charging time (about 3 hours) - yes, it is longer, than battery life... btw: most power banks turn off after few minutes of charging, while they do not recognise a device connected to it, so Bose advise to use a wall changer or computer to charge. They do reccomend to use 1A charger (niether the 2,1A, nor stronger).- Calls in noisy (or windy) environment are hardly possible - actually, I am not sure, if this is minus - it simply corresponds with product designSpace for improvement:> Some kind of “charging case” would definitely help to improve the experience (long charging time/poor battery life)> I understand, that “rough edges” are part of the specific product design, I like the “industrial” style of the product, however the “close to ear” part could be a little bit less sharp - more curved> Buttons - I am not 100% sure, but maybe adding volume (+/-) buttons on the opposite (left) temple to action button could be useful.> Support for the product - it looks like Bose itself doesn’t trust the product:- it’s almost impossible to find and get the (proprietary) charging cable replacement, or case replacement (Bose allways direct you at the support line).- instructions how to replace the lenses (and regarding prescription lenses) came 5 months after the official launch of the product - at first in the user discussion forum on the bose site.I am using Bose Frames connected to iOS (iPhone), I have not tested any of the VR features. I thought about trying the golf (Golfshot) app, but it doesn’t have too much sense, while the frames battery withstands nine holes only.

Bit flimsy but sound quality excellent
Wanted these for a while. Got them for £50 under John Lewis price. Packaged well as you’d expect. The frames are quite light and to be honest are a bit too plasticky. They charged quickly. They only connect if you download the Bose connect app. This was straightforward and they connected very quickly to my iPhone. The sound quality is very good and I have enjoyed my walks wearing them so far. The lenses are okay, not the best but you can change them. . For the price they are excellent and hopefully will last a long time. Would I buy again. Yes.
