The birds certainly like it.
The birds have really taken to it. I chose it because of its shape which I thought would give best access to the nuts and this seems to be true. There are often 4 or 5 bluetits on it at once and other birds using it including woodpeckers. I would of rated it 5 stars but for a manufacturing fault where the metal edge finisher piece round the filling hole was incorrectly cut, leaving it a sharp needle like end and adrift from wire cage. Luckily I noticed it before stabbing myself and fixed it by bending the end into the cage wire to secure. It doesn't affect the function. This probably only applies to my one. Also the rod, which holds the lid on and the hanging ring is too long and the threaded end is poor. As the rod is too long the lid didn't close off the filling hole after screwing on the hanger. I laid it down on its side after filling with peanuts and they went everywhere. I could of sent it back of course for a refund or replacement but decided to keep it rather than wait for another. I improved it by fitting a 6mm nut on before the hanger ring as a spacer and which also acts as locknut to tighten the hanger ring against. It needs to be tight enough to stop it unscrewing and falling off when windy. Overall a very good feeder slightly marred by poor build quality and attention to detail. You probably won't find a better one for the price.Update. Sadly after 7 months the wire cage is falling apart which is a real shame. A good design spoiled by poor quality. This of course may only affect mine. Will I get another?

Great design
Because it has so much air flow (no base) the nuts don't rot. The tits seem to love it, as does the squirrel that comes and cleverly sits in the ring to nibble. Would have a pic, its hilarious, but he moves when I open the blind to get the pic!

Great nut feeder
This is one of the strongest nut feeders I've had so far, squirrel has been on but unable to brake it. With the help of vasaline and tobasco sauce ( which doesn't bother the birds ) keeps him off altogether. The Bird's are happy so I'm happy.

Grease the nut and thread and you shoulvdn't have any problems.
I read the reviews, but wanted the shape despite the negative ones. I thoroughly greased the nut. It is all metal and works well, the sparrow in the photo enjoyed it for a good five minutes. Very happy with product. Only time will tell about One year on the greased nut still works very well, but I've changed the filling, peanuts do not get used fast enough in this, however a mix of maze, suet pellets meal worm, sunflower seeds shell on, and raison work extremely well.Well its been up a while and the nut despite the rain is working great - the greace tip works a treat. The down side is the nuts are going moldy because they are not being eaten fast enough. So I'm trying layers of nuts then sunflower hearts mixed with meal Worms then more nuts. I'm also trying a new position and so far more birds are visiting. But is it for the nuts? Will keep you posted. The mix with maze and raison etc is a winner.

Squirrel proof!
I am so pleased that I have finally found something that is squirrel proof! This donut is strong and well designed. It looks fabulous and it is easy to fill up.I have had various other types of nut feeders and have found the blue tits and great tits in my garden, don't seem to like them and have vanished. The basic nut feeders are ripped apart by the naughty squirrels and I had to keep replacing. After using this for a few days, all the birds come to feed and the squirrels just can't get into it !So happyI highly recommend this !

Needs the screw rethreading !
So nearly there with this one - a very good price and looks the business and indeed the birds use it regularly. However I’ve reduced the rating because the screw thread was malformed on arrival and so I could not hang it at all. Not everyone has a tap and die kit spare ( nor should they!) so unless this was a one off you may want to tread with care …

I have the donut shaped fat ball feeders but until ...
I have the donut shaped fat ball feeders but until now have never seen a peanut one, it came today and after a struggle to undo the top I did manage to fill it and now I am waiting for the birds to discover it, I have loads of Jackdaws visit many times during the day but for some unknown reason they haven't been since I put this out, nothing to do with the feeder well I don't think so!) as they have missed going to neighbours feeders also, maybe the weather.

Poorly made lid
I had to order this twice. The first one arrived with no hook on the lid to hang the feeder from. I was sent the second one as soon as I reported this, and this one did have a hook, but I doubt it will last a long time as the hook bends and is not very well soldered. This is a recurrent problem, the one I had in the past broke in exactly the same place.
