## Description

Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds is the eponymous release from the solo project of the former Oasis legend, and the first after his acrimonious split from the aforementioned band. Working in both London and Los Angeles between 2010 and 2011, with frequent collaborator Dave Sardy serving as co-producer, Gallagher utilized the talents of now bandmates Jeremy Stacey (drums), Lenny Castro (percussion) and Mike Rowe (keyboards) for the album.

Review: From This Album Forth I Have No Little Brother - It's been a while, hasn't it? It's been about two years since Oasis called it a day...or imploded, depending on how you felt about them and their music. With Liam Gallagher and his Beady Eye group releasing their album "Different Gear, Still Speeding" earlier this year, many music fans in the camp of older brother Noel have been waiting for what seems like an ice age for some kind of response. Finally they've got one in the shape of the album "Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds," but has the wait been worth it? Based on what I've listened to...OH HELL YEAH!!! At the beginning of EVERYBODY'S ON THE RUN it sounds like a choir is singing. It seems appropriate somehow. It's like you're entering a church. A cool church of great rock music, and surely I don't have to tell you who the priest is meant to be. EVERYBODY'S ON THE RUN is like the opening hymn, and the use of the violins only adds to the song's holiness. THE DEATH OF YOU AND ME is something I feel Noel would've written and sung if he had been around in the old Wild West. It's got that kind of vibe to it, and I don't care what instruments were or weren't around back then. That's just what it makes me think of, and I like it. It certainly beats the 1960's anyway. (I WANNA LIVE IN A DREAM IN MY) RECORD MACHINE is a perfect fusion of rock and orchestra work that make one fantastic track. Meanwhile AKA BROKEN ARROW is another great song. Just listen to the acoustic part at the beginning. Sound familiar? Got something of a WONDERWALL (Oasis) vibe about it, doesn't it? And we all know how iconic that tune is. As far as "duds" go, there's not much here I can complain about. In fact there was only one track that I wasn't overly keen on, and that was DREAM ON. It's rather repetitive, especially in the final third where the lyrics "Shout it out for me" are sung over and over and over again. Erm...shout what out exactly? If I had to sum up this album in one word it would be this one...Epic! Strong word I know, but I challenge anyone to suggest differently after listening to this album. I felt that Liam's Beady Eye effort "Different Gear, Still Speeding" was about average because it had its head stuck in the 60's too much. Fortunately Noel is a smart man and has kept his sound more modern. Everything on this album (with the exception of DREAM ON) has been perfectly laid out: the lyrics, the length of the tracks, the instruments used...From the first chords in EVERYBODY'S ON THE RUN to the last ones in STOP THE CLOCKS, you'll feel as if you're listening to an album that's tidy, suited and ready for its interview with legendary status. Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds is a brilliant album that you simply must own. I still can't get my head around the "High Flying Birds" bit, but if the band keeps turning out great music like this I'm sure I'll get use to it.
Review: Satisfying first album from Noel - I have lived with the album for a while and happy to report I love it! Granted I'm biased to an extent because I like Noel's work as chief songwriter in Oasis, and have grown increasingly impressed with his ever maturing soulful vocals. This has come to full fruition on the album which kicks off in a very bold way with Everybody's On The Run, a tune I first heard from a sound check in 2009 and seems to have been given the treatment it deserved with an orchestra and choir (what else?), and big drums, and guitar. It's also a cool way to start an album rather than leave it until the end. I like all of the first 6 tracks best through to Aka What A Life, which has been all over the radio. Definitely one to strut your funky stuff on the dance floor. Uncle Noel would be proud! .. And then the fabled Stop The Clocks ends the album in style. I say fabled because its been around since 2001 and could have been on any of thee last 3 or 4 Oasis albums since then, and finally gets its place on here. On a nerdy note, of special interest is the production from David Sardy who I understand added some ambience to the tunes and really helps elevate a lot them to a whole new level. I believe he also had the drums re-done after Noel originally took on the reigns of production early on in the process. Finally there are other tunes worth checking out which for one reason or another didn't get on the album, but are available on either iTunes, or available as b-sides. The songs Simple Game of Genius and Let The Lord Shine A Light On Me are both amazing, and at least one of these could have easily fit somewhere. Other songs not to feature on this are Alone on a Rope (v good mid-tempo soulful tune), The Good Rebel and I'd Pick You Every Time (folky).

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ OUTSTANDING ALBUM 10/10
*by T***S on 1 January 2014*

OUTSTANDING ALBUM 10/10 Great Deluxe edition :) I first got the normal CD and I was amazed at how good this album was, AMAZING, Noel has done it again but this time he sings them as well as just writing them all, when he left OASIS I thought it was the end but when HIGH FLYING BIRDS hit the streets I thought to myself (YES HERE WE GO AGAIN) Every song is good quality and well written and performed, there is not one WEAK song on this album in my opinion all GREAT. Don't think too much of (BEADY EYE) Liam is not as good as Noel for writing songs and stuff, I don't hate Beady Eye I just don't like it more then HIGH FLYING BIRDS that's all, I mean B.E is okay but nothing amazing like this album is. This deluxe edition is a great collectible product, you get a neat picture book, full album and demos, concerts, its just a MUST HAVE for any OASIS Fan or Noel Fan, in fact you don't even have to like OASIS to like this album :) But yes I'm also a BIG OASIS Fan too, I have over £500 WORTH of OASIS albums, books, bootlegs, t shirts, mugs, picture frames you name it because I am (MAD FOR IT) anyway great album LOVE (HIGH FLYING BIRDS) CAN'T WAIT FOR NOELS NEW ALBUMS TO COME :) Great service, Fast Postage, Top Seller.... MANY THANKS (5*****)
