My older metal cased model simply wasn't charging. I found that battery deposits had leaked onto the brass contacts and covered them so no current could flow. I removed them and put them in a saucer of Harpic toilet cleaner for an hour or so. The acid in the cleaner dissolved the alkaline secretions and the brass terminals came up like new. Screwed them back in place and the Raagini worked perfectly once more. I know, totally mad. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Really convenient *by P***L on 14 May 2024* This electronic tanpura is compact and has a number of options. It has options for pitch order (ni pa and ma). It is powered by four rechargeable AAA batteries (not included). There is a port to plug in a cable to charge the batteries. The internal charger can handle 110 and 220 volt systems. As this machine comes from India, I got a cable that would have had to have an adapter plug. The receptacle for the plug into the machine itself is universal and I easily found a cable with the appropriate plug for a 110 Canadian system, but be prepared. It's handy to use either plugged in or independently with charged batteries. The pitch can be adjusted from a rich low chord note of A0 (below C1, taking C4 as middle C) to a B3 (just below C4). Tone can be adjusted using a humorous tone control reading "gents' and "ladies". Gents have a darker timbre.The tempo (basically when the beat signifying the repeat of the chord) can be adjusted, as can the volume.
