excellent portable radio
Perfect , i cannot fault this radio at all for the price. Looks good, sounds good, very very sensetive and picks up lots of stations right across the bandspread wether that be fm/am or sw band. The tuning and volume control is very smooth and solid in use, i absolutely love it. Now if they could add ssb , ext ant, a light on the dial and airband to this model, then i would happily pay more money for it. If you want a very cheap but excellent receiver , this is the one to buy .

Great little radio.
This is an excellent radio. Crystal clear sound. I was very surprised at the clearness of the sound for the size of it. Measurements are 3” high (7.5cm) 51/4” wide (13 cms) 1” Deep (2.5 cms) The photographs show the front with all the bands FM SW MW. If you’re in a good reception area you will be able to pick up foreign channels too. It has a little pull out rest at the back so you can sit it up. It takes 2 Double AA batteries you just open the little battery compartment..I have 4 rechargeable batteries and can use it all day for 2 or 3 days + before they go and I then switch to the other 2 while the ones I removed are on charge ready for next time. I also bought a power lead for it. I use Duracell 2500mAh. I’m mentioning that because other batteries may give different battery life than the life span I mentioned. I’ve also put up a pic of all the info about the radio as well how many bands etc. You can see it has an extendable arial a socket for a power lead and another for headphones. On/Off switch obviously and volume control and a wrist strap. All in all a super little radio..I had a Dab before this and got sick of the problems I had with it and now see we have to buy the updated Dab +. This’ll do me fine. Buy it! Excellent.

The look and feel externally is very good, and is of high quality.
It looks bigger in the photo, so check the dimensions! The look and feel externally is very good, and is of high quality. My application is only for extreme emergency situations, so not ordinary use. The requirement requires reliability, and lack of digital stuff (which will fail in case of EMP for example). The sound is nice and clear on FM even down to 3.4 V. If sound quality is not an issue then it ran down below 3 V, which is very impressive. The spec says it takes 300 mA at 5 V. Even at high volume it was only drawing 100 mA at 5 V, with 50 mA being a more realistic current. The low voltage operating means it will certainly work on rechargeable NiMH AA batteries, and at 50 mA current it will give good battery life. I didn’t find a lot of activity on the 9 short-wave bands. The AM band was limited to above 522 kHz, which was a bit disappointing as I wanted to try picking up 198 kHz (Droitwich). There is an external power connector (which I was using to check the operating voltage). Frustratingly they don’t say what the connector is other than “DC jack”. (I would not call it a “jack” given the female innermost connection). You can see the pin on the radio body which the power connector mates with, but it is too deep in the socket to measure with callipers. I guessed that it was a 1.1mm inner diameter, 3.5mm outer diameter connector. That did not fit as the inner pin was too large :-( 1.3 mm inner diameter, 3.5 mm outer diameter worked. But that meant I had spent an extra £6 to get the right connector :-( That has to lose a star. Given the application, I think that wrapping it in several overlapping layers of aluminium kitchen foil is a cheap improvement for long term storage.

Great little radio for the money
Saw a YouTube review of this and just wanted one, partly just as a cheap battery radio that doesn't rely on the internet or mains and partly because I was fascinated to see what I could pick up on SW. It's compact, FM works fine without any need to pull up the antenna and lots of SW at night. Sound is ok, goes plenty loud enough and quality is not unpleasant. Separate power switch is good, better IMO than combining with volume. Really nice build quality and appearance - although a Chinese brand you may not have heard of I'd have been very happy 30 years ago if a leading brand like Sony or Panasonic had made this. Three things on power supply. I am so glad this just uses AA batteries, the radio won't get dumped because some proprietary rechargeable battery has failed. This is a DSP radio that has a processor running all the time it's on and I have measured the current taken, around 50mA with volume down to silent and about 60mA at a moderate volume. Battery consumption isn't terrible and I expect about 20 hours out of a pair of alkalines but not going to do 100 hours like the old fully analogue radios. Finally if you intend to run on mains power it will be annoying. The 5v input isn't USB so you will need a special lead and it is inconveniently mounted on the top of the radio. I would have preferred them not to have included this socket at all.

Handy mobile compact radio.
Love this little radio. It is portable so I can take it into the garden so I can do some work on my garden. Listening to the radio makes it easier to do tasks. The radio is easy to use is nice and compact and was a very competitive price. Happy with this purchase.

Great little radio
I bought this radio for 3 main reasons. 1. To listen to on a night. 2.For its short wave capabilities 3.Because it was cheap. Now just because it is cheap doesnt mean that its rubbish. Infact, its far from it. The build quality is superb. Despite its size, (its tiny and will fit into most pockets with ease), the sound quality is fantastic and is quite loud. So if you are buying it to use in a quiet environment, you should probably use some earphones. I highly recommend this little radio.

Meh
It’s ok, but not as sensitive as my other receivers or radios. Ok for the money if that’s all you want to spend.
