catch moles with these traps
When we moved house the rear garden lawn looked like an alien landscape due to mole hills. A serious attempt was needed to solve the mole problem.First we tried a sonic deterrent which we persisted with for a couple of years, but it became clear that this was completely useless - the moles eventually making their earth mounds around the deterrent! Then we tried a humane trap. This required quite a long hole, so setting the trap itself produced a mess. After a couple of seasons we did catch one mole - which then needed to be released elsewhere. But the overall success - one mole - had caused lawn damage which was as bad the mole hills, so we ditched the humane trap. The next attempt used tunnel traps. Setting the spring was difficult. Also, hidden below ground, you could not tell if the trap had been sprung. After several seasons we caught one mole - at the cost of considerable lawn damage setting the traps. In the end we gave up on these traps. Then we bought these scissor claw traps. They are more solid in construction than tunnel traps and are very much easier to set. Though no instructions were included there is plenty of advice on setting mole traps on Utube. An immediate advantage over tunnel traps is that the tops of these scissor traps are visible above ground so that it is obvious if they have been tripped. They need a smallish hole which can easily be cut with a trowel. The claws of the trap should touch the walls of the tunnel with the trip tongue centred in the run. Also as with all traps the mole run must be clear either side of the trap to avoid soil pushed by a mole triggering the trap. So, after the first few days use did we catch a mole? Well, one trap was sprung without success; but oddly, the day we set these traps the moles disappeared! This was obviously a coincidence (though I sometimes think moles are smarter than we give them credit for!).Later, mole hills reappeared so I set two traps. After 24 hours we caught two moles! My skill in setting traps had obviously improved. We now have moles under control.I recommend these scissor traps as convenient to set, effective, durable, and good value.

Proof is in the bag
Tired of paying an expensive and annoying pest control guy who seemed to think he was doing you a favour (with no results). I decided to try and deal with the moles in my garden myself for just over 25% of the cost of each visit from expert mole man (when he bothered to turn up).I can tell you this device works. Proof is in a green bag in my waste bin. This was after 1 day out. I've had 3 other traps from another manufacturer, but they haven't been as successful and cost more (one triggered with nothing caught). Maybe i got better at laying the traps which is important.Thought it was a bit macabre to share the picture.Well made, sturdy and effective. There was a bit of rust on the trigger after a few days, but I'm sure the mole didn't mind. Removed mole with the tap and bagged straight away. Hoping that's the only one, but I'm ready if any more.Would definitely recommend.

Poor attention to detail.
The traps are solid and sturdy but when I tried to use them for the first time I found they wouldn’t stay open. I had to the bend the metal tabs slightly with a pair of pliers. Now they stay open. Put them to use in our garden and bingo caught the pesky mole.

Poor Quality Product
Why should I have to fix this product when it arrives in pieces? One of the traps was fine, the other had a piece missing that was lying in the box. I’ve bought before and each time I need to fix the item in some way. Sure, it’s a fairly straightforward fix but I should NOT have to do it. I will not buy again.Addendum: One month later and at the second time of using, one of the traps has broken. Very poor quality workmanship, do not buy.

Effective Weapon In The War Against Moles
Declaration of second war against moles!Arrived day 2 after ordering, via Royal Mail which I think was a pretty swift delivery service.Set about finding the mole runs by prodding a large long screw driver roughly equal distance between the mole hills. You know when you find one because the screw driver only has slight resistance and then sinks easily into the tunnel. I then set both traps in two different tunnel runs. Once you find a run, dig a hole with a trowel using the closed trap as a guide to size. Make sure you align the jaws of the trap so they match up with the two tunnel entrance either side of the hole, then pat the soil down hard at the bottom of the hole so Monty Mole doesn’t go under the trap. Now set the trigger plate at a very slight angle so the trap will spring as soon as Monty Mole touches it, also make sure both entrance are clear of soil other wise Monty will push the soil forwards which will spring the trap before he gets into the danger area. Cover up trap by lightly placing grass sods around the trap handle also heap loose soil up around the trap handle in order to stop light getting in. Sit back and wait.🤔Crafty Monty seemed to ignore my first trap having seemingly found a way around it that evening, or maybe he had another route towards the particular mole hill Next morning trap two was sprung in the other run and Monty Mole was duly despatched to the great mole hill in the Sky.👊 👍These traps work! Sometimes you just have to have patience. My wife isn’t happy calling me a mole murder etc??🙄 I’m delirious with joy! feeling a curious sense of satisfaction now that I’ve caught one of the little buggers. 😃😉 The war might not be over? but at least I’m now armed with an effective weapon to fight my campaign. Churchill would have been proud of me.Btw forget all these humane electronic mole scarers, I’ve tried them and lost every battle and the first mole war. They are a complete waste of money.
