Q: If you poke a tiny hole for the air, does the escaping air keep water from entering the bag?

There is a hole at the top of the bag. As you dip it into the water the air will escape from the top. It literally takes seconds and it will all be out. You will put the straw through the top of the hole and put a zip tie partially snug on the straw and bag. Once sealed pull the straw out and a tighten the zip tie.

Q: Can you use a straw with this instead of putting a hole in the bag?

You probably could, but the hole we made was very tiny. We put the label over the hole we made so it was very quickly sealed entirely. We used these bags in October and have seen zero problems with the way the bags were directed for use.

Q: Are these big enough for a 25-30 lb turkey?

Probably not. We used it for our 10 lb chickens and it was slightly large.

Q: My order of 100 came folded, no wrapping & have a gritty dusting feel to them is this normal packaging?

My order came wrapped they were folded but didn't feel gritty not sure what happened with your order
