Optisch sehr ansprechend und auch nicht so überdimensional. Gute Warmhalteleistung über ca. 4 Stunden. Allerdings braucht er verhältnismäßig lange und ist auch relativ laut, daher ein Punktabzug.

I'm terrible at putting the kettle on to boil, then wandering off and forgetting about it and coming back and having to boil it all over again. With this kettle, it's still boiling hot, so I probably halve the electricity I use on kettle boiling! The only slight negative is that 1.7l isn't that many mugs of tea.

It pours really well once the lid is easily taken off. Indeed all 1.5 litres can be poured in a few seconds without spillage. It also reduces the irritation of the wife switching the kettle on, then walking away, only to come back 20 minutes later and repeat the operation as it keeps the water pretty hot or at least reduces the power necessary to reboil the water.

I so wanted to love this kettle as it is undoubtedly better for the environment but I'm afraid I can't. I've been using the kettle for about a month now and I've come to really dislike it. It's understandably quite heavy and my hands are a bit arthritic, so this makes life awkward: I find it difficult to stretch my hand enough to press the lever to release the water and lift and pour the kettle at the same time. I would do it with 2 hands but then the hand pressing the lever risks being scalded by the steam. Even with one hand, you often have to tip the kettle more than 90 degrees to get the water out and so scald your hand, meaning you have to pour the water in stages. I'm presuming that it is meant to be water-tight when locked but right from the word go, some water came out when I forgot to press the lever to release the water. Recently, a little rubber stopper came off and will no longer stay in place, which means more water escapes and I'm guessing this reduces the insulating effect of the kettle. On the plus side, the kettle does look good and keeps water hot for longer, reducing the number of times and length of time I need to boil it for but I wouldn't recommend it, particularly for those who lack strength in their hands and arms. Unfortunately, because I wanted this kettle to work for me, I left it too long to ask for a refund but I'm going to have to buy another kettle. :-(
