Thomas & Friends - The Complete Series 1

Another great release by HIT Entertainment. The first three seasons of 'Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends' are the ones to get as they're all remastered from 2004. The remastered episodes were rare in the UK, US and Australia before, as they've been released on separate DVDs, promotional ones etc. Japan is really the one with all the remastered episodes on their home releases, but not as a series compilation. Aside from the wonderful and crystal clear footage, these episodes are wonderfully written by a vicar named Rev.W.Awdry, creator of the Railway Series, along with son Christopher Awdry and are much more better then the recent series' writings. The narration is nostalgic with the likes of Ringo Starr, who is a big nostalgia factor for kids who grew up with the model animation from 1984-2008. There has been other narrators at the time like Michael Angelis and Pierce Brosnan, but when you ask a question whether its trivia or asking one in general, Ringo's the first thing that comes to mind, like he was during The Beatles. A new age fan will enjoy these episodes, it has good morals and entertaining story lines and if CGI isn't your cup of tea, these DVDs will be your entertainment. These are a great idea for a Christmas gift this year. The episodes are all remastered, with great story lines, memorable music, morals and stunning model animation. You can also buy the S4-7 as well to show your kids the old Thomas and share the joy you had when you were a child with your child, along with 'Blue Mountain Mystery'.

Bought for my son who loves Thomas the tank engine and want to collect all the series. We started a weekly reward chart and each week he gets a new dvd into the collection if he’s completed his chart. Currently at series 15 so it’s working! Lol He loves watching the dvds. Very well made and perfect for kids.

A very entertaining DVD

Ring Starr's voice adds charm to this first series. These episodes are perhaps more charming than the later animated episodes. However that is beyond our 2 year old grandsons appreciation at present. Certainly buys you 15 to 20 minutes peace allowing you to get those little jobs done. Health and safety seem to be an issue on this railway, lots of crashes and accidents, but that seems to be what little boys enjoy. If your grandchildren are into trains worth getting. Seems to be a longer term favourite as keeps being watched at the moment.

This is definetly one of the best (maybe even the best) show to watch since it is watchable for people at every age. I bought this DVD because I always was a huge fan of the models, sets and especially the narration (even as a kid). Ringo Starr was definetly one of the best narrators for Thomas & Friends. He put much effort into doing each character's voice. The sets in this season were beautiful and there was much effort and care put into them. It had a very high amount of realism put into them (and also the trains). The trains would not move at a fast pace or bounce arround, like in the newer seasons. The stories were very mature and all treated with dignity. All 26 stories were adapted from the Railway Series and are as beautiful as Awdry wrote them. The DVD arrived in a very good condition and you cannot complain about the price. Definetly better than the CGI series.

be aware before you buy this this is a uk disc if you dont have a universal dvd player it wont work a ps4 i found works you just need to change the regain you can only do it 3 times so be aware
