The half moon reed is "unfiled", the one with the straight line is "filed". Each reed has a card cover and the only gripe I have with this pack (particularly given the organic credentials) is that each reed comes in a cellophane packet! Come on D'Addario, if you're going to package an organic product, go the whole mile and make the packaging 100% recyclable too! The reeds themselves are pre-filed and great quality, particularly as they're not the most expensive (I've purchased worse for far more money). They don't take much wear in time and play pretty smoothly and evenly. The bases are a good size and shape and contact the ligature well.
