Don’t wait, buy this!
My family loves this, wish we would have bought them sooner! Family competitions for who runs the fastest home to first times!

Save your money and don't buy... poor quality of signal, the gates don't work!
Seems like a great idea, but the 2-AA batteries aren't powerful enough to run the unit. The timer doesn't register when the runner passes the gates, even though the light on the gates trips when the runner passes by. I've noticed you have to be no less than 10 yards from both gates (start and finish gates) for the timer to register when someone crosses them. If you're timing a 40 yard dash, as the description says it can go that far, it's impossible to stand 10 yards from the start and finish gates unless you run along with the sprinter, which is currently what I'm doing. I'm less than 10 yard from the start gate as the sprinter starts. Then I run along with the sprinter to try to get within 10 yards of the finish gates in order for the timer to receive the signal. If I'm not close enough to the finish gate by the time the sprinter crosses it, the timer doesn't receive the signal and it doesn't stop recording, so I don't end up with a finish time making the product useless. Basically, the unit isn't powerful enough in order to work properly. If you have brand new AA batteries (which you need 5 pairs), you may get it to work up to the 40 yards, but not for long. As the batteries start to die, which they do as soon as you start to use them, the distance the timer can read the gates starts to drop. After using for a few mins, I'm no longer able to register a 40 yard dash by standing at the finish gate. I have to stand in the middle to run along with the sprinter in order for the timer to work. And the included batteries, which are cheap, really struggle. I had to replace those almost immediately with expensive Duracells. This product is a good idea, just wasn't fully designed to work properly. I may rewire all the units to take 3-AA batteries instead of 2 and see if the extra voltage of the 3rd battery will allow the timer to register the gates up to 40 yards, but my recommendation is to avoid this product altogether. I know gates are normally $400 and up, so this product would nice at this price point, but what's the point of purchasing something that's just going to end up being a paper weight. Now, maybe I got a bad unit, but for me, it doesn't work. Like I said, I'm going to play around with wiring it for 3 batteries. Will that ruin the unit, maybe. But at the moment it doesn't work, so I might as well try to turn this paper weight into something useful. Either way, I'll be investing in another unit, which will be more expensive but it's better than throwing away money. It's too bad, I really wanted these to work. It's such a basic function and I don't see why gates are so expensive, but I need something that works and is reliable, and my experience has been that his product is not it.

Excelente producto
Es un muy buen producto, se compró para los entrenamientos de mi sobrino en BMX, funcionan tal lo publicado y era lo requerido por nosotros.

Works ninety nine percent of the time, but the lasers must be close together.
I've been using this timer to time track athletes, and it works really well, especially for 10m flies and 60m sprints. I haven't tried any greater distances, and so far it's been amazing. It's very accurate and works 99% of the time, which is amazing. The only thing I don't like is the distance between the lasers. The distance is actually rather short, and it only picks up about one lane's width. For instance, if you wanted to measure your athletes and have a wider field to take their times from, it would be very difficult. You have to put the lasers fairly close together for them to pick up and recognize the times. But once they are connected and there are no more flashing red lights, then it works really well. I do recommend this for any program that doesn't want to invest thousands of dollars in a high-quality system. But for programs that simply want something to set the bar for athletes, something that gives the athletes something to look forward to, this is it. Just be mindful that you will need to keep the lasers fairly close together.

Excellent stuff!
Hi,I'm a gymnast of 26 years, a coach for 10, and I've been building a ninja warrior program for the last year. My ninja students love them. The students love to be able to see their times and the times of their peers, and it is motivation for them to race the clock. The lasers appear high tech (they really are just garage door laser motion sensors) and although they are made of plastic, I expect they will last a very long time given they aren't mistreated. In my professional opinion, these speed gates are the best for the money spent. There's no other product out there right now which compares in both price & functionality. Right now, similar products are ranging from $600-$1000.

Needs some improvement.
I own several timing products. I do track and field timing so I own a true FAT system.. I also own timing gates. This was a cheap risk to try out. The pros-.. it's compact easy to carry, fits in the carry bag and it's easy to set up. The cons - unless your timing rolling wheels or 8 year olds running on a track/grass you will be disappointed at the accuracy of the gates. Any high school sprinters stride will be higher than as tall as these speed gates. They need to be lifted.. at minimum 24 inches maybe even 30 inches.I tried using my tripods from my other system but the awkward cone did not fit on top of my tripod. As far as accuracy, a little suspect.. An athlete ran 1.02 on this system.. best time before that on other systems 1.2 and he's a 14 second 100m sprinter. So I would not trust the accuracy until the sensor is lifted to catch the athlete running through the gates. My advice for potential buyers... If you can raise the sensors, or but them on a platform to raise the senors.. maybe not a bad buy/purchase. That's my next steps.. to raise the senor. And then I will get more use out of it..Spartan Track Club Hawaii
