I don't know myself. It should support several hundred pounds. Don't suddenly drop heavy weights on it, but after subjecting it to a heavyweight carefully examine it around the side and bottom for any sign of a hairline crack. If any form of a crack is seen you can surely believe you have exceeded a safe weight-bearing level.

What is the purpose of the round pads?

The super absorbent pads turn liquid into a gel within seconds while reducing odors, spills and splashes.

Do they sell more liners and pads?

Yes, I preferred the SaniCare super absorbent pads for bedside commode. There are 50 pads (Pack of 1). I also used TidyCare liners for bedside commode. There are 96 liners(pack of 1). Even though, these products are for bedside commodes. I've been using them for a bedside commode, regular and fractured bedpans. They work great for me. Plus, the SaniCare super absorbent pads work better than the ones included in OneDone bedpan set. Those liners are very thin.

can it be used for bowel movements?
