upgradeable to 10 watt
I purchased this laser because of the working space. I already have a 5 watt laser from Genmitsu so I knew I was going to upgrade this one with the 10 watt. It was easy to put together, easy to upgrade works with MAC and PC. I normally run it on the mac and lightburn. I had one issue when upgrading but Genmitsu was very responsive and got me on the right track. I would recommend this laser to anyone that has the room for it. It's large, larger than most workbenches 23.62 inches ID (600 mm) the OD is slightly larger. The upgraded 10 watt laser is great for cutting 3-5 mm plywood. I have engraved some clear acrylic signs, lots of tile coasters and tons of wood. I recently purchased professional fume extraction so that I can get rid of toxic fumes in my garage. It makes a world of difference, especially when engraving on tile spayed with cold galvanized. Don't need toxic fumes hanging around for people to breath. If you're on the fence about a purchase from Genmitsu don't be, I have 2 of their lasers, 2 of their CNC machines and support has been stellar.

Seems decent
I haven't used this laser cnc as yet. I'll tell you the reason for this. I'm old! I care about my eyesight. After researching this product and cnc lasers, even after the purchase, I ran into a video talking about safety glasses and why you shouldn't trust the glasses that come with some of these possible foreign made systems. First off, they don't give all the specifications for their systems, like VLT, O.D., I looked at the manual for the laser itself and the only safety certification, if that's what you call it, is FDA approval. Approval for what? That they would protect my eyes from flying objects or from a 455nm cnc laser.I finally purchased a pair of safety glasses that fall in the range I need, but I'm still not confident in their safety either. At least the new pair I purchased, have the specifications printed on the plastic lenses.I know that Amazon is a big company, but I feel that if you're going to sell a product in U.S. or anywhere for that matter, you have a responsibility to insure that the product is completely safe for your consumer.Over the past several years, with deregulation, our country's product safety has went down the tubes. It seems for now, that no one really cares about it at all. Fox News owner R. Murdoch said in some conversations that leaked out to the press that, it's not red, or blue, it's GREEN that matters. For me it's a little different, it's RED, WHITE, and BLUE!I don't care if this gets posted or not. But someone should start paying attention to what's right for a change.

Great for getting into laser engraving
Being the recipient of other cheap Chinese DIY devices (3D printers) I was pleasantly surprised by the excellent assembly instructions! The large format is great, and I love how I can just grab the entire thing and place it directly on top of what I want to engrave. The Lightburn can do a ton of stuff, and worth the extra $60 for the license. If I recall correctly, it's also good for 2 computers. The not so good, open lasers invite curious eyes. Animals, kids... It's like looking at the arc when someone is welding, hard to NOT look... Plus, it can smoke up your workshop quickly, depending on what you're working on. I mean, it's totally expected, being it's totally open frame! That being said, I'm making an enclosure with 2020 extrusions and ACM boards with an inline fan to exhaust smoke/fumes outside and keep from burning out retinas.I did have an issue with connecting my MacBook Pro, but Ryan in theor tech support replied within a day with screenshots and clear instructions on how to get it working on my 12 year old Mac!If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up.

Nice engraver for the money
All and all it is a easy machine to set up. Directions could be better but they had good pictures to go along with the written assembly instructions. YouTube helps a lot. For the money you really can’t beat this machine. I have done tons of research and decided to try this unit out and I’m glad I did. The automatic air assist is awesome and works really well. The z axis manual screw on laser is fantastic too! If you price all the other lasers in this category this machine beats them all. I try to get the most bang for the buck and this machine has that. I bought the package deal with the offline controller and the rotary. Not sure I would buy the offline controller again if I had it to do all over again.I plan on hopefully down the road updating the laser module to a more powerful one but this one is great for me to get started in the field of lasers. If your on the fence , don’t hesitate. You won’t be disappointed.

Not good with Mac
Have had nothing but driver issues with Mac OS. Will prob get a cheap PC laptop to run it off of. Cuts and engraves in reverse no matter how the origin is set in lightburn. Only option to get it to cut and engrave correctly is to flip the image burn you cut. If the manufacturer has any suggestions, I’m open ears.

instructions are ok, butc watch you tube and it will help.Mine went togwether fine and worked fine,
I disliked the part that said move this connector down to this connector( see Pic) in manual. well my air assist would not work till i moved back to original connector. and now works fine. that is only problem

Easy setup. Build and burn.
This is my first laser engraver/cutter. I am a 3D modeller by profession, so I've been 3D printing for a good number of years. So that's where my comparison comes from.Firstly, setup. Easy to follow instructions. Wasn't overly fiddly. Completed with one pair of hands. The inclusion of a marked box of fittings made things even easier. I was worried about fitting the limits switches that I saw in the box of bolts, but I needn't. The limit switches are already fitted and these are just spares. Bonus points for that. Speaking of spares, there was lots of spare bolts too. Or....Operation: Due to good assembly instructions, once the driver had been installed, Lightburn connected with no issues. It homed correctly and was ready to burn. The included focus helper was used to get the head the correct distance from the work, I loaded up one of the provided cutting files and set it off. In hindsight it would have been better to have adjusted the settings for a faster cut, but it worked flawlessly.Quality: Cutting the provided test ply I was impressed with the tightness of the beam and the resolution of the stepper motors. Having air assist as standard is very useful as it cuts down on scorching and because it's controlled by the LC-60A's board, it can be turned on or off on a per layer basis. I did some small scale tests to begin with, keytags. They engraved well and cut almost perfectly, almost perfect because I had my cut speed too high. I then tried a photo engrave. It came out very dark, but again, that was down to me not having it burn as a greyscale. A later burn with correct settings gave me a better result. Sadly, six hours into the burn, the wood started to distort and the head hit the work and moved it out of register. I also should have masked off the image and set my minimum laser power to 0 as it still lightly burned the bits that shouldn't have. Lesson learned. I've attached a photo. So first impressions are that it's a great unit. Easy to assemble and good results without too much faff.

Genmitsu Jinsoku LC 50 Plus
Machine has solid build quality, linear rails, good cable management, powerful enough laser head, cones with air pump for the built-in air assist. However the machine also has some some improvements to make like better Z axis adjustments, more rigid and longer air hose, longer power cable for the air pump, and maybe a manual on or off switch for the air pump instead of automatic, easier way to connect the roller attachments and the legs could be improved so they are not loose when twisting the support leg. Customer service is very good though and responsive. There is something wrong with my laser head and they are sending me a replacement, also sending me the raiser for feet because it's missing in my package. They also listen to my comments and suggestions to improve the machine.Update: I returned my machine as they couldn't procure replacement laser module and they said that my motherboard also have issues. They also said that the machine is being discontinued. I got my refund and customer service was good.
