Perfect for what I needed .. a Smartmedia card reader
I bought this as it was the only Smartmedia card reader I could find on the market. I needed it because I decided to ressurect my first digital SLR camera from 1997 (an Olympus C1400L) which only took 8MB Smartmedia cards. It works flawlessy on my Windows 11 PC and was plug and play. I'm having fun playing with my old camera and find it really odd that the average picture size is about 300kB and yet the pictures look fine on-line.

Well worth the money!
Smaller, flimsier than I was expecting. Different card slots not marked, so have to guess or be very observant as to what goes where and which way up. Having said that, device works fine with my SmartMedia cards, even the ultra large 128MB card (reason I bought this device was to read these older cards) and more modern SDHC cards. Not sure if it's the device or the computer but often loses connection on changing cards - unplugging and reconnecting resolves the issue. Managed to download photos that otherwise could not as our new computer and laptop have no serial ports for the camera cable. With aid of downloaded DISK DRILL BASIC free software, managed to recover photos from SmartMedia cards that a previous card reader had corrupted. Well worth the money. Have been using it with Windows 7 OS laptop but tried it just now with my old computer running Linux Mint 17.3 OS and worked straight away, plug and play! Still to try SAVING to a card from the computer ...

Very useful device!

Great product but fragile
The product is excellent as it allows you to quickly find photos and videos that are on your old memory cards. While sorting out a box of old things I came across 20+ memory cards which were all different shapes and sizes and I wanted to find out what was on each one, before disposing of them. I found that the memory card reader was perfect for this but it was flimsy as I had to hold the cable still while it was connected to the computer as otherwise, it would keep disconnecting which was frustrating.I would recommend this memory card reader if it's something you aren't going to depend on regularly.
