Great sharpness, not quite as easy to use as it looks
So, I watched a YouTube video of this product in use and it looked to take all the guess work out of sharpening a blade and it does, but there are still errors to be made and callenges to overcome namely: I followed the instructions recisely but several blades repeatedly slip out of the clamp jaws; I had had to resort to gluing a rubber strip on each jaw to increase the grippiness and I think that is helping. The instructions say to leave 5/8 inch (16 mm) of blade showing but if your average kitchen knife is only 20 mm wide at it s widest that is going to be a challenge. What this results in is you sharpening the jaws and not the knife. And a long carving knife is another challenge for which I had to resort to doing it in 2 stages. But I do like the results, it has been esepcially good on my wide japanese kitchen knife on 17 degrees though I still can't get it to shave the hairs on my arm! It is also pretty expensive. But I will persevere.

They sharpen knives great
Finally I have found something to sharpen my knives. I have tried various sharpeners but they are mostly rubbish but this puts a really good edge on them. It's a bit pricey but they do the job so I am happy. After sharpening my kitchen knives I tried them by slicing tomatoes and they finally did the job.

Works adequately
Work fine. But, tedious for dull blades - takes quite a long time. Once sharp - fine.

Best manual sharpener you can buy
Surprisingly easy to use and, with a bit of practice, you can get blades sharp enough to do surgery!

How hard is your steel?
If you bought this sharpening kit you must know how hard your abrasives are and the steel you are trying to sharpen. The problem is if you don't know then you will order a sharpener from the range that's to soft for your steel. Do your research before and you will be good.

Not so good for Kitchen knifes
I was really disappointed because for smaller pocket knifes it works beautifully. The problem is when you attempt to use it on anything bigger then 3in in length. The clamp is just not very good at holding down bigger knifes and a few swipes later the blade will end up slipping regardless of how hard the screws are tightened. Not only can this be dangerous but it ruins the edge. Unfortunately I had to result back to my tried and tested whetstone to sharpen my kitchen set :(

Best ever sharpening tool out there
I’ve had all sorts of sharpening tools but this beats the lot. Easy to use and puts a great sharp edge on the knife

Surprising Reviews
I've used the Lansky hones for over 25 years and I'm still amazed that people have trouble with the clamp. You can adjust the two screws until the space between the jaws is parallel - you do this by loosening one screw and immediately taking up the tension with the other.Someone commented it was tedious with blunt knives but okay to keep knives sharp. I have found the complete opposite. Using coarse diamond to shape the edge and progressively lightening the pressure and then changing hones until I used the extra fine (purchase required) ceramic to almost polish the edge.To KEEP knives sharp, I actually use the Spyderco system, but that's only really viable if you use the 20º angle with the Lansky. All in all the Lansky system is tried, tested and my diamond hones are over 10 years old and still superb. Well recommended.
