Are these o.k. for 13awg wire?

They are standard size plugs. You will struggle to attach larger gauge cable. As the retaining screws have to be tighten all the way in .

Are these plugs meant to be very tight fitting? I assumed this was the standard size and it's the first time I've connected speakers this way.

do you mean the cover over the screws in the connector or the plug into its socket? i found the cover rather tight, and you have to make suree the sdcrews are tight in; if you do, then the cover fits nicely. That's the trick, but it took me a couple of gos to realise. In terms of fitting into the socket, they seem normal to me. Hope that helps.

Can the supplier or manufacturer clarify the size of these banana plugs. Are these standard banana plugs that fit into 4mm sockets or not??
