Mysteries of Thorn Manor

J'avais déjà eu un coup de coeur pour le premier tome et cette nouvelle est vraiment un cadeau génial de la part de l'auteure. C'est mignon, drôle et retrouver ses personnages a été simplement parfait. Le seul point négatif serait qu'il soit vraiment trop court. Avec un tel épilogue, j'espère sincèrement un autre livre dans cet univers !

This sequel was the relief we needed after the many questions Sorcery of Thorn’s epilogue left us with. Our much-loved characters have been reunited, in Thorn Manor, living together and forming a found family together. Of course Silas has returned and his character becomes more fleshed out as the story progresses. He is my favorite book character as I find much in common with him. There is a very important part at the very end of the book where he makes a choice, to either stay in his comfort zone of darkness, death and quiet contemplations, alone… or stepping away from that, stepping upwards towards light, laughter and love that awaits for him. He will always remain a demon, he will continue to kill, be aloof, be disapproving and dangerous… all the beautiful things that make him Silas… yet you can see his heart opening slowly to the realization that it is safe to let his guard down on occasion, to trust, to allow himself to be loved. You can see the relief in him as he allows this to happen. The naughty topiaries, the flying knickers, the angst grimoires… the living bird wallpaper, the endless dusty hidden rooms, and ohhhh the moonlit ballroom where Silas teaches Elisabeth to dance! There are so many fantastical lighthearted moments on this book, as well as frightening moments of dread, sorrow and finally~ hope, acceptance and joy. This book left me with the warm feeling of an overflowing heart. I know everything will be okay. Silas will heal, taking care of his friends and enjoying a snack or two in the basements from time to time, because he will always be a demon and he is wonderfully accepted for that. I want more! am in love with the characters, the plot and the manor itself. Between the light fluffy moments there are very deep complex moments between the characters. Highly recommend this read. I tucked into bed with my fairy lights on, cat snoozing beside me, and had this entire book consumed by midnight. I had to sit there quietly for a long time after I finished it to feel all the feels. I have been anticipating this book for a long time and I will be re-reading it again this weekend. If you are a Silas fan, and it seems many of you are, hope you take time to fully appreciate this short novella and the light it sheds on Silas, his mindset, his demon nature and his human heart.
