I recently bought a 2019 rav4. When I bought it, it only came with apple carplay and I have an android. I took it to the dealer to get the radio updated but it would not update to put android auto on it. I found this device and im so glad I did, it saved me from getting a new phone. It was super easy set up and connected immediately, I am also able to have 2 phones on there. You can't use them both at once but if you and your spouse or friend use the car, then you could pick which phone you want connected. After I start it, it takes about 20ish seconds to start up, which isn't a big deal. You don't have to be sitting still for it to start up. If you get in and start going down the road, it will still connect like I said it will just take about 20 seconds. The device also makes it wireless carplay. You do not have to plug your phone up for it to work. You plug this device in and just keep it plugged in all the time and your phone will automatically connect wireless. It shows the map, all the apps, it also shows text messages and phone calls. I have had it for about 4 days now and as far as I can tell it almost works flawlessly, minus the slight delay. If you are having the problem I did with only having apple carplay with an android phone I would HIGHLY suggest this to convert to android auto.

Purchased this for my wife's 2019 RAV4. 2019 only has wired car play and we use android, so i looked for work arounds and found this. Initial setup was annoying but not bad. Started car and plugged it in and got nothing, did not have time to tinker with it so I left it plugged in and went on my way. When I returned to car and started it, I was greeted shortly after with the setup screen. Setup was super easy and quick and within a few seconds Android auto wireless was working. No lag and audio and screen quality is what I am accustomed used to from my car with an aftermarket android auto wireless head unit. Of the 5 times I have gotten in and out of the car it connected fine 4 times. I can't say that 1 time it was the fault of the ottocast as Android Auto just doesn't connect sometimes. I knocked off a star for initial setup not initiating when car was already running. Something I appreciated was receiving a message from tech support immediately after placing order asking me to reach out if I had any issues. That's pretty nice customer service, but also means that others must have had issues. My initial impressions are this is a great little device that bridges the limitations of a car play (or android auto) only head units letting you use your preferred platform wirelessly.

I recently purchased the Ottocast Android Auto adapter for my 2020 Porsche Macan, and my experience has been a bit of a mixed bag.**Pros:**- When the connection works, Android Auto functions seamlessly, enhancing my in-car experience.- The adapter is compatible with my 2020 Porsche Macan, adding a modern touch to the driving setup.**Cons:**- Unfortunately, the connectivity is inconsistent, with about a 50% success rate. There are times when my phone and the adapter fail to establish a connection, requiring me to disconnect and reconnect multiple times.- The most frustrating aspect is the digital sound issue during phone calls. On several occasions, the audio quality became distorted, making it nearly impossible to understand the person on the other end. As a workaround, I had to switch to the car's own Bluetooth for a clear conversation.In summary, while the Ottocast adapter has its merits, the inconsistent connectivity and phone call issues can be quite bothersome. If you can tolerate occasional glitches, it's a decent addition to your car tech. However, if a seamless experience is a priority, you might want to explore other options.Update:Lowering to a 1 star because as much as I wanted to keep it and it just work the fact is, it was very inconsistent and an inconvenience too many times and at the most pressing times when I had important phone calls. I reached out to the mfg for support and while they replied a couple of times and weren't offering much help, they ultimately gave up and stopped replying.I guess hoping I'd just go away.I returned the product. It was more frustrating than what it offered for me.

I don't normally write reviews but felt compelled to write this one because after years of looking for a solution to use Android Auto in my car (2019 Rav4), I finally have one and it works really well. Once in a while, it has a problem connecting with the head unit but a short disconnect and reconnect to the USB port will clear that up. When it is up and running it works really well with a responsive UI, and good sound from streaming apps.I had a couple of questions about obtaining the latest firmware and filled out the online support form on their website. In less than a day I had a response from a real person with all the information I needed to answer my questions. The service has been top-notch.I would definitely recommend this to someone hoping to get Android Auto working on an Car Play only head unit.

If you looking for this product to only do Android auto no online capabilities can't surf the web then I guess this is for you I'm was looking for something that I can surf the web go on the internet stream movies this wasn't it

The product has a metal case and feels quite substantial. The software on the unit is very simple, and connection is fast, easy and straightforward. Just find the device in your phone Bluetooth list, pair and connect. Once device is paired, you pretty much can forget about it as reconnecting is fast and easy. The sound quality is exceptional, and I didn’t detect any lag between my iPhone and the dongle/car headunit. Predominantly I use Apple Music, Spotify and Waze on my CarPlay. Music apps are ok - However, there are some discrepancies when using Waze - as the speed was showing some erroneous readings. Apart from that, I think the unit is slightly on the pricey side but provides good value for what it brings.

I have this device for my 2021 LDV T60 Luxe to give my Samsung S23Ultra Wireless Android Auto through the native Car Play of the LDV.Setup was simple however a few issues arose every time I would turn on. The device would struggle to connect. After several email from Amy at the Ottocast Help desk, we look to be on the road to perfection. Amy has suggested the addition of a Y Power cable to boost the power supply on the Ottocast device. Hopefully this allows direct connection without issues.Once the device is connected it works flawlessly. Easy navigation and phone calls without any lag in the system. I remove another branded CP/AA device as the lag was horrendous. Very happy now.

it has made life easy for me ..Now i dont need to worry about cables for android auto ...problem is...there is a lag while switching between apple and android device ..plus i think it takes 5 10 extra seconds to connect to bluetooth ..afterthat it is seamless..### second update###it interferes with my uconnect system ...sometimes back camera screen doesnt switch over back to usual uconnect screen even after putting in drive mode... also there is a problem with android where it keep scanning for android auto even after u r not in car...u have to manually stop wireless option....###third update##product performance improved after i manage to upgrade to latest image. I will recommend this product to everyone.##fourth update ###product performance has become lot better after march upgrade but it sometime gets stuck and doest boot...so i connect to laptop for sometime and connect back in my car .....this has happened to me in every release i hv upgraded my device too ...

This product works great only a few issues every now and again but other ok easy to follow instructions to connect to car info

So many issues with this unit... Phone audio is unusable. Nobody can hear me, it's badly muffled, distorted, cuts in and out and everybody complains. I've never had this problem when the phone was connected directly through Bluetooth to the car.Every once in awhile as well, I start the car, and the unit switches from Android Auto back to the car back to Android Auto and will not maintain an Android Auto connection. I have done resets on the device, reset the car, delete the device etc, nothing works. I bought a unit for $50 less here on Amazon that works flawlessly. Doesn't work properly on my 911 or my Macan.The only thing that I can say is that it's packaged in a nice case, but it's totally useless as a functional Android Auto product. It's total junk and I do not recommend.
