Kept raccoons off my dock
I used these to make a raccoon deterrent on my dock walkway. Mounted them on a piece of plywood & placed midway on my walkway. I used 4 rows of the steel very sharp ones in the middle. Saw several muddy prints but none on the other side of board & no poop on the dock or attempts to get on the boat. My neighbors are all having issues w the damage they create. They laughed at the board but I suspect they will be making one for their dock. I never saw blood around the steel spikes so these definitely stopped them from advancing.

Excellent deterrent for raccoons!
We love raccoons, but a family of them had made a habit of climbing up our neighbor's stand-up paddleboard-holder (attached to his side of the fence), peering over the top to see if the coast was clear, then climbing down a palm tree and raiding our dog's food and our trash. Despite blasting them with the hose, they'd scamper back over the fence, wait a little while, then scamper back. That quickly became tiresome, so I looked for a longer term solution. I came upon this product and was a little hesitant due to the reviews of it basically not working, but I can tell you, this instantly worked like a charm. I installed them along where they peered over the fence, and the first night I could hear them trying to figure out how to get over it. They finally balanced on one small section that I hadn't yet put the spikes on (I ran out of screws), but it wasn't close enough to the tree for them to climb down. They're smart critters, and without an exit-strategy, that was enough to deter them. I bought screws the next day and completed the installation along the entire track they followed to get into our yard, and for the first time in weeks, our dog food was untouched in the mornings to follow. These spikes are SHARP and STRONG. I put them along the top of the fence (the width happened to fit perfectly on our fence), and also tailored them onto the top of some fence poles where the raccoons would first hop. NO MORE RACCOONS! It's basically broken their habit of stopping by our home on the way around the neighborhood. I can't speak to any other critters, but I certainly HIGHLY recommend this product to deter raccoons!

The idea behind these backfired
While these were great quality and the idea behind them was good and hopeful, they just did not work for us. We have persistent robins relentlessly making nests on our deck roof ledges. I feed the birds in my yard. I love birds. But, the location the robins are attempting to nest in is dangerous. My dog is a beagle mix and VERY much a hunter. There would not be a good outcome if a nest of baby robins was above "his" yard. We fenced in a section of our yard for the dog. I know that baby birds spend a few days on the ground learning to fly. Also these nests are directly above our BBQ grill and table and chairs. The mess they are making building nests is pretty gross actually. Anyway, we installed these across the entire length of the roof ledges. What we've learned is, they are actually assisting the robins in building the nests because the brush and grass and nest material they are finding is sticking to the sharp points and helping it stay on the ledges better. So, this idea totally backfired for us. Instead of deterring the birds, it is more inviting as it is assisting with the nests not blowing off of the ledges. These robins have big plans because the nests they build are HUUUUUGE.

Deters critters quite well.
Effective at deterring critters as shown in the video (stopped raccoons from coming into my yard). The only concern is that the plastic cracked in a couple of places while I was screwing them into the top wooden rail of the fence. Wondering how long these will last. These spikes are extremely pointy and generally this product is well designed.

IDEAL FOR SQUIRREL IRRADICATION!
We have a bird feeder (we love our birds) that we installed to our pool fence some months ago. Well, it wasn't long before Mr. Squirrel and his clan decided that the birdfeeder was THE place to dine and dash! They destroyed the plastic grommets on the feeder and bird food was spilling everywhere when Mrs., Birdie went to eat! We tried pretty much every item on Amazon to deter the squirrels but not harm them too much and certainly not harm our beloved feathered friends. Nothing worked. Spikes, metal spikes and even cayenne pepper did not work! So, we started thinking like a squirrel...odd, I know, but these are very determined little guys who I believe are mini engineers! First step was to get a new feeder. Then we bought these spikes. We found that the trick is to use all of them to keep the squirrel as far as possible from the feeder. We installed the spikes on top of the wrought iron fence 4 feet in each direction on the top of the fence and used metal spikes underneath that so there was a limited area for them to climb, The plastic spikes are SUPER sharp (ask me how I know) but are a huge deterrent to Mr. Squirrel's sensitive pads on his hands and feet. Now he comes hippity hoppy to the fence as always and then sits and ponders his predicament... he sits and chills out for a while and then just leaves! These cones come with no hardware but, we used 18" black zip ties in the center of each one and that is more than sufficient.... here is a tip... don't secure them in multiple locations so that they are locked in place...Mr. Squirrel hates it when what he is trying to walk on moves... even the slightest bit, so one zip tie will secure the spikes and make them a bit wobbly for a bit of extra protection for you. The top of our fence is very small so these are the ideal size. If you have a larger fence you will just need some more to keep these furry rascals at bay. Highly recommended!

Look good, but…..
I’m having raccoon problems on my roof. They damaged the roof to the tune of 2 grand. I had these spikes installed. Unfortunately, they haven’t deterred the raccoons, not because they aren’t effective but because raccoons have been assaulting my house for 40 years and have learned to bypass EVERY deterrent I have tried. Over the years, I have learned the names of mama and babies and have had MANY generations just laugh at my attempts to stop them. The spikes look cool, but haven’t stopped these determined monsters!

Elements of environment
They become brittle, the HOT DRY 🔥 HEAT, they are not sturdy to resist the elements of the environment. I used it on my fence gate to deter my cat from jumping over the fence, they do not stop my cat. But if I touch them, they are pointy and thought they would work. I had high expectations because they look good and feel like it's a good quality product until the elements get to it. I find individual spikes on the ground, or maybe my cat 🐈 is a tuff tiger and has no care attitude and breaks them. The only thing left to try is a metal spikes which I will not use! So therefore i gave it average rating due to some individuals on the ground...

Owl Poop Delima!
This product exceeded met my expectation, but the installation was ugly - Really Ugly! We had an owl that would land on our outdoor light to eat. This owl pooped all over the outdoor light and made a big mess of the light, wall, and concrete patios. This product worked from day one. The only issue was it was ugly when I finished the installation. Not sure how to install it and not have it be ugly. You ought to come up with contest to award the best installations.

Works but not all the time needed to be another row wide to work
Works but not all the time needed to be another row wide to work. Just a little short in width for std fence which allows raccoons to step on sides. I feel it needs another row to work all the time
