So finally I think I have hit on a device that a. doesn't fall to bits after six months b does the job well and c. has a manual written by someone who knows English. The very key thing that stands this device out is quite straightforward - the rechargeable battery delivers a fast spin to the blades - that why nearly all the ordinary battery types can't compare - they inevitably lose power and efficiency - just keep this one topped up and it will keep doing the job. And it does do a good job because of that. The manual is very good for a product like this and is written sensibly, although the supplier must wonder why they bother as a good proportion of the questions on here by people who obviously own the product are actually answered in the manual or in the product description (yes you do need a two pin shaver plug, this is the voltage, yes the blades will fall out but that's because of the way you hold it, no the battery recharge light doesn't go out change colour shout or beep at you - yep how it works is actually in the manual folks!) Build quality is good ( and please ignore the complainers saying the switch is plastic etc - I mean this is a device designed for a wet environment - you really want to minimise metal surfaces) and although time will tell I think this one will be around for a lot longer that others I have had. So, my advice would be go for rechargeable, ignore cheap stuff and you will save money in the long term. Oh and a neat carry bag is something I haven't seen before so a plus point for that too. One very small point.... the device has a small plastic protective head which is a very snug fit - pull this off the device and occasionally it will pull off the top metal part of the shaver as well - not a problem and it wont break, but quite fiddly to put back (and the manual talks specifically about this). The answer is to give the plastic head a very small twist before pulling it off - that tends to work.

One of the pain in the bum signs of getting older is unsightly and unwanted nasal and ear hairs. To remedy this you can go manual with a set of testers and I have even usd disposable razors. However you are very prone to cutting yourself as I have done so many times over the years. I have at times used nasal trimmers in the past and whist they have been okay, they have been battery operated and have been the type with a tiny head, more like those of a clipper, or a tiny ball. These have never been adequate for me and so I have binned them. I was really happy when I saw this set of trimmers that had a different approach to the ones I had previously used. For a start these trimmers are rechargeable. It's great that if you forget to recharge that you can plug them into the mains electric, you don't have to wait. This is very useful if you need to trim before a meeting or a job interview. No tickling hairs to distract you. The trimmers themselves are black and silver and feel very sturdy and well built, not light and delicate as some I have used in the past have done. There is a little sideburns trimmer that easily snaps onto the top of the trimmer itself and there is even a brush to help clean up the trimmers after each operation. There is a dark plastic lid to keep the trimmers clean and dust free when not in use. On top of all that you get a little handy mesh bag with a draw string to place all the items in to keep them together or to take away on holiday or trip. There is a two pronged mains plug which means in the U.K you may require an adapter. I have a mobile phone adapter that works fine. A red light illuminates to indicate that the set is charging. However, I would be nice to receive one with the trimmers itself as this would show that the manufacturers are considering their market for this U.K more seriously as there are not many bathrooms in the U.K with an electricity outlet or shaver outlet. Operating the trimmers couldn't be simpler, it has a switch placed at the top half of the set and it's an easy function of up and down, no fiddling whilst you are operating the trimmers. The trimmers gathers hairs from all angles and the top. It's very easy to use, especially around the ears and you don't have to be a contortionist to try and find the right angle to trim those awkward hairs, this tidy set hits them at all angles and my nose and hair felt free and without the stubble that some sets I have used often left behind. This is a great set and I am considering buying one for my brother as I value these trimmers very much, they do a great job and exactly for what it was intended. I wasn't disappointed with the end result. It was clean and hair free where I intended it to be. I recommend using this set very much.

This rechargeable trimmer from Schon comes with two interchangeable heads, a small cylindrical rotating one for the nose and ears and a small flat mini-beard trimmer. They both work well with sharp metal blades which do the job in a highly efficient manner. The trimmer is delivered in an injection-moulded tray inside a cardboard sleeve with places for the three parts plus the mains charger, but there is no carrying/transport case. I have three minor gripes, and they are minor but reduce the product from being perfect to being just very good. The first is that changing the heads is not always as easy as it ought to be, especially fitting the cylindrical rotating nose/ear trimmer which can be fiddly and exacting if you don’t line up the parts just right. You know if you haven’t got the three parts correctly aligned, because the trimmer won’t switch-on. The second is that there’s a plastic cylinder-cap to cover the business end, i.e. the cylindrical trimmer, to ensure it doesn’t get damaged in storage or transport. This does not screw on or clip on with retaining lugs: it just pushes on, and mostly pops straight off again no matter how careful you are not to touch it. The third gripe is that there’s a red light indicating the device is plugged in and charging, but no indication (like the light begins flashing on/off) as is usual with such electrical devices to indicate the device is now fully charged, so you just have to guess. It would have been so easy to design this product without these minor irritating defects, so what would have been a five-star rating is reduced to four. If you can live with these minor issues however, then as a trimmer this is an excellent quality product and does the job well.

Not a product that I use on an every day basis, but it replaces a very similar, but cheaper AA battery powered product I bought some years ago. Frustratingly, I needed a new AA battery every time I used it, so decided to by something of better quality, hence the Schon product. The difference on build quality is huge, with a shiny stainless steel body and a general 'high end' feel. The nasal hair trimming device is strong and works well, the longer hair trimmer is also a competent performer, although no better than the one I have with my electric shaver, but it is smaller and if I had a need for an eyebrow trimmer would, I am sure be excellent. The travel bag is excellent and will be well used, but I was surprised that no storage stand for normal use is supplied. Fortunately, the one from my old device fits both the Drive and the trimmer, but I would willingly have paid a little extra for a new one. All told a nice piece of gear and with the nice emails and warranty, the whole purchase is a win-win situation. One cry from the heart. Why do all these devices have different lead sockets? I travel frequently and have to take many different charging leads with me, it would be nice to need just one!

I bought a branded ear and nose trimmer from a supermarket and it lasted about 6 months before not working anymore, so turned to Amazon to look for a replacement. The reason I bought this one is because it says it has a lifetime warranty with it. In the short time I've had it, its performed really well. Bizarrely the metal end does get a little warm - not bad, and actually if anything, the warmth is comfortable. I just wasn't expecting it. I like the extra attachment to shape either beards or as I use it for, the back of my hairline on my neck. Nice touch including this. Plus it comes with a little pouch to put everything into. If I could suggest one change, its the charging method. It comes with a plug that will go into a shaving port - however, a lot of people won't have one of those - we don't. We do however have an adapter we use for an electric toothbrush, so I can still charge it. I would have thought a better method would be a USB lead or a normal plug. Shaving sockets will only be in the bathroom and sometimes are on lights so are high up and the lead isn't that long. This doesn't detract from the fact this appears to be a great little trimmer though and a good price. Very happy and glad I bought it.

Delivered next day with Prime. Bit concerned at first because it looked like the same mechanism that I had suffered with several cheap units that sometimes didn't work at all or stopped when they encountered hair. No need to have worried, once charged up as recommended (it has a rechargeable battery), it performed perfectly. Didn't slow down at all when cutting nose/ear hair, and was obviously revolving at a much faster speed than I had experienced with other trimmers. The sideburns/eyebrow attachment worked OK too. Only criticism is that the protective cap keeps getting knocked off at the slightest knock so doesn't really serve its purpose. I've seen criticism that it doesn't come with a UK 3 pin plug. The literature explains that it is law that a bathroom unit such as this cannot use a 3 pin plug for safety reasons, and only the supplied 2 pin plug that plugs into the shaver socket (or you can buy an adaptor for about £2.50 that converts the 2 pin to a UK 3 pin plug to charge it up outside of the bathroom). Lastly got three emails from the company hoping it was satisfactory and saying: "Once again, please don't hesitate to reach out to me if you have any issues with your purchase - I'm here to help! As I mentioned in my last email, your nose trimmer comes with a lifetime guarantee, so if you have any issues, please contact me by replying to this email and I'll gladly replace it for you, free of charge."

Faulty product and terrible customer service fro m Amazon. When I bought this product just over a year ago, it came with a lifetime guarantee with the advice to contact Amazon re any problems rather than manufacturer. I've tried many and this one is performing at a top level. Well built, solid little cutter. The blade reseating isnt as tough as it is being made to be. If you've had any type of similar unit, you'll have no problems cleaning and reassembling. Ive gone through a string of Junkers and now I know this was the one I was missing. Hope I dont need to use the 'lifetime guaranty' but nice to know its there if needed. Unit came brand new in sealed packaging. Worked right out of the box (just turned it on to hear it) but followed instructions and plugged for a full charge (8-10 hours for first charge). Smooth, non-irritating trim. If I had to list a negative, it would be the packing. As I picked the box up, the unit inside just bounced around so who knows how much beating it took. Just something small inside to prevent the flopping would be good. Did show up early though! And you've built yourselves great product!
