But The Originals is just as good and contains many gripping and interesting storylines. The theme of the show is also much darker and tenser than The Vampire Diaries. And even though I like a good romance storyline, I am glad that the romance element has been kept down and doesn't become annoying or repetitive like it does in The Vampire Diaries. The show follows the original vampire family (Klaus, Elijah and Rebekah) as they move to New Orleans where Hayley is having Klaus's child. But with many supernatural threats what will they do? I can't go into too much detail about the storyline's within the show as there are so many and some of them are complex. There are also many surprising returns and fascinating new characters.If you have seen The Vampire Diaries then I would certainly recommend you check this amazing spin-off out. But make sure you have watched the first 4 seasons before you start watching The Originals, as there are a few minor references and spoilers you would need to have watched seasons 1-4 to know. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ So much better than the Vampire Diaries *by A***R on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 23 January 2018* So much better than the Vampire Diaries.
